Does it have to be long-sleeve, zuisa, or just not sleeveless? Do short sleeves count?

I like this one in aqua

Sadly, this one is only available in XS.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

If I had $200 to spare and a place to wear this [link] I would so nab it for myself. It's got straps that look about an inch wide, and while flattering to the girls, not particularly cleavage-alicious.

ETA: [link] black lace bolero to give more sassy coverage.

Art Crawl!!!

Still attempting to organize my yarn. Need to take a break. Surrounded by yarn, lots and lots of yarn.

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

I need a whole array of formal dresses for my new job, they are the only part of my uniform not provided. None can be strapless, but thin straps are fine. At least one has to be both floor-length and black, and the others can be whatever, but need to be at least knee-length, no shorter.

This is proving difficult, because from what I've seen at stores, the non-strapless floor length ones scream ADULT, and I realize I *am* an adult, but I'm 24 want to still look it. I'm also short, which makes things fun, and am sort tiny-chested so dresses just sort of hang there. Besides the one I bought in China, which is a qipao so therefore not entirely practical, I only own one dress, and it's both too short and strapless, but I basically adore it and I'm so sad I can't bring it!!

You do know, zuisa, that this board is a powerful fashion-finding engine.

I was not aware! Hooray!

The dresses you guys linked are pretty! But I also guess I had NO idea how expensive dresses were. It hadn't occurred to me yet to look online (I have no idea why!)

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

zuisa, If you don't mind telling us a size, we can probably have you outfitted by this evening.

I ated some protein and am feeling more human.

zuisa, I recommend finding a macy's coupon somewhere (newspaper, online, there always seems to be one) and hitting up their clearance dress racks in the store--they usually have tons of stuff on clearance, and you can score some deals. Plus, all the dresses they had for Christmas parties will now be on sale!

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

zuisa - macy's has a great petite section, and being 5'2 i find looking for formal wear outside petite departments to be an exercise in futility and misery as nothing ever hangs right. If there's a Nordstrom rack near you sometimes they have great finds. I've also had occasional luck at Sears and JC Penney. long enough? spendy but pretty

can you toss a nice jacket or bolero over the strapless dress you have?

ooh yeah, christmas party dresses on sale, plus the first crop of prom dresses making their way into stores. actually not a horrible time to be shopping for evening wear!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Well, I've gotten the tree and ornaments put away, the carpet swept, pre-snowpacalypse groceries bought, and dishes dealt with. Now I'm trying to decide if I should do a load of laundry tonight. Eh, probably. I'd rather vicariously shop for formal wear.
