The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I just threw a pot of the world's laziest "homemade" chicken soup together: leftover shredded meat from Wednesday night's rotisserie chicken, a can of organic cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, a package of frozen pre-mixed potatoes, green beans, and carrots, a smidge of garlic and lots of sage. Now I go put one of the frozen baguettes in the oven, and in 20 minutes, I have tasty food. That's the theory, at least.

We spent the day with my friend Julie who is in town for the weekend, without her husband or kids. It was wonderful to see her. We had fish tacos. And we went to the Getty Villa. It was all great until Grace puked. Twice. Did I mention today was another pink food day?

Sigh.

All three car seats have now been washed this week. Yay?

I am glad I was running around since 1pm and did not have the radio on. So sad and angry and worried for our country. Do not doubt that the shooter is mentally ill, but really do not understand how people think that the violent rhetoric is not an issue.

It's possible that I'm making plans to go to London in July.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Plasticize your car seats, Kat.

Jilli, we too had Impromptu Soup. This year the light bulb went on over my head to cook the noodles separately and then just pour the soup over it. Obvious, but not to me. Anyway, angel hair / cappelini tastes so good that way.

So we had veggie stock with garlic, hot sauce and lemon juice, then added seitan, tofu, and bok choy. Over the noodles. Pretty satisfying on a cold day and healthy too.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I started a blog

Ha! Me too! Only mine isn't Bob's fault. And it's a food thing about mostly bread and beer with occasional planned visits from your friends bacon and stinky cheese. [link]

I think you need to avoid pink foods for a bit, Kat. I know you love pink, but...

Yay London!

I don't do NY resolutions, but why do I want to buy and fix and project so much in January? I bought bins. I want to buy furniture. My cc bill for this past month may require dipping into savings. God, I miss saving money.

That is an excellent idea. I recommend it over making plans to go to London the week before Christmas, which is what my parents did this year.

Absolutely!

Reading Sullivan's blog is interesting, especially the reported- responses to him that hope for violence against him.

ION - what I did running around all day.

Took mac and a friend to a Birthday party.
Mailed 3 packages.
Had lunch with a friend.
Went thrift shopping (this time mostly helping other people find stuff).

Thift finds: possible sway lamp for the living room (not old, but I like it. will have to see how it looks hanging in the room), Calvin & Hobbes book for mac, 2 small items for the guest room.
