However, one of them had tried, but she hadn't been able to find the right picture. That made me feel better.

My sister hangs out with her students. I'm trying to imagine going to the beach and getting drunk with any of my lecturers from university, and knowing about their sex lives (and the sex lives of their family), and NO. Just not happening.

amyth and I are as one in the sloth. And today is not a day I can really afford to be slothful, seeing as how I will be out on Friday and for an unknown amount of time tomorrow afternoon*, and we close our February issue this week. And almost none of us were here last week. Eep.

*Going to the hospital tomorrow for a possible biopsy on my lymph nodes and/or breast, where I have had pain and swelling for a month now that one round of antibiotics hasn't touched. Yes, I am freaked out, even though the rational brain says it's probably nothing. BIOPSY. Do not want. Trying not to think about it, but obviously not having much luck.

So it turns out that I'm staying at the Omni only Sunday and Monday nights. Tuesday and Wednesday nights, I'll be at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. I have no idea what this means, geographically, but I thought I should let you all know!

Ooooh, fancy schmanzy, i'm very very familiar with that Westin. They have a lovely rooftop pool and a fantastic bar. A little on the spendy side, but the food and drink are both very very good. It means you'll have a pretty long drive to get anywhere...except the theatre where O_A and i used to work - which is right next door. Also the Performing Arts Center and new Opera House. Nice if you wanna catch a show!

eta: there's also a pedestrian bridge across the big street to one of the poshest shopping malls anywhere: South Coast Plaza. On the plus side, there is a Sees shop on the lower level. Also, pants for over $1k.

That's a hard thing not to dwell on, Kate. All kinds of nothing~ma to you.

Thanks, erin, for the info! That sounds kind of cool, actually. If I'm going to be hanging out at a hotel, that sounds like a not-bad hotel to be slounging at.

...for a minute I thought you meant you'd seen it in person. And I was like "When? You've been holding out on stories!" Was there something remarkable about it, or just that it's Kanye's?

I'm used to it being very quiet around my house, but the neighbors have started work on their renovations, and I keep hearing construction noise--nothing too bad, so far, but people moving around and things clanking, and I keep being startled and thinking it's someone around MY house, or coming to the front door.

My Dec. monthly report is ridiculous. Turns out I only worked seven days the whole month:

Dec. 1-2: worked. (Had two-hour staff holiday lunch on the 1st.)
Dec. 3: had knee surgery
Dec. 6-10, 13: laid up
Dec. 14: checked email from home for three hours or so
Dec. 15: went into office for two hours to see capstone students give final presentation
Dec. 16: slept all day
Dec. 17: spent two hours writing up feedback for capstone students' final grade
Dec. 20-22: worked. Mostly answered phones, since I was the only one in the office. Phone didn't ring all that much.
Dec. 23: Tried to work, but threw up at my desk about ten minutes after I got to work. Went home.
Dec. 24, 27: holidays
Dec. 28-29: worked, answered phones.
Dec. 30-31: holidays.
