Our wings are not tired.

I am for serious when I say that my life went way off the rails once people stopped giving me gold stars for doing stuff I was supposed to do already.

I know you don't mean to be utterly adorable, but you are. I'd give you a gold star in person every day if I could - for being adorable!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse - that's odd, when i adopted my younger cat from the county shelter he was already chipped and part of the adoption process was transferring the chip over to my name and address, i think the vet scanned him and confirmed all that on his first (shelter mandated) check up.

Oh yeah, I'm sure that happened at the first vet appt, but I have all new contact information since then, and am in fact hundreds of miles away from that location.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Onerosity #6: Desk clearing got a little derailed, as it does, but it is now complete! And! Now I have a clear desk to start back to work with. Although clearing involved a little creative stuffing of All The Things back into my in-tray.

Onerosity #7: Dining room table clearing: complete. Except I discovered the last bit of the antibiotics the SO failed to take. It makes me mad! He missed a day, I told him to finish anyway, but he didn't. And now he's sick again. YOU ARE WHY WE HAVE SUPERBUGS, SO! Harumph. Guess it's no use playing blame game.

Onerosity #8: Making lunch. Okay, so some of these are totally just normal household tasks that I should be doing every day, but since I'm coming back from being sick and doing squat, I'm counting it.

Onerosity #9: Reset Autofocus todo list. Done. And it's not so bad, actually.

What next? The big mundane tasks I have left are a) put away laundry, my chore nemesis, but I want to wait until it's all done so I can do it in one fell swoop, and b) haul firewood, which I am putting off because it's just such an onerous task. But it'll count as my cardio for the day, so yay?

I think next is email scary bigwigs.

Ha. I am not adorable. I am a cranky oversized toddler who needs affirmation to achieve basic life tasks! But I am very gold star motivated.

An adorable cranky oversized toddler.

But I just realized that Pete is the True Adorable of the board, so I will have to come up with another adjective.

I am for serious when I say that my life went way off the rails once people stopped giving me gold stars for doing stuff I was supposed to do already.

My college students asked me to do this for them. I wish I were joking.

Our wings are not tired.

See now? Those college students aren't adorable. I'd have kicked them in the haids.

I am seriously appalled by what you, Vortex, Hil, Sparky, etc report as college student behavior (and their invasive, infantilizing parents!).

Today is my last day of vacation. I should probably do something other than hit refresh constantly on b.org.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Onerous tasks achieved: delegated taking cable/dvr remote to exchange to DH. Off my plate.

Dish drainer emptied, dishes put away, b'fast dishes done, water bottles scalded, refilled and fridged, filter pitcher refilled (schedule checked, nearing filter change), toilet scrubbed. Attempted to vacuum living room (esp. corner behind DH's chair while he was out) but vacuum died. Vacuum now charging.

I need to make calls (don' wanna!), shower, shampoo, do hair and skin treatments, update my planner and possibly work on writing.

And then watch all the saved SoA's off the dvr so we can take it in for exchange if the new remote doesn't fix the lag problem. My life, so hard, that this is classed as onerous. But SoA is intense. I have to save it till I can face it! And then do it all in a rush.

ETA: Gold stars do not impress me, Liese can have all mine. M&Ms on the other hand?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Go, you guys!! I'm not doing anything onerous, aside from coming to work...

meara - Jan 03, 2011 10:55:09 am PST #14374 of 30001

I am totally like a little kid in that I keep doing stuff today because I am thinking in my head "...and then I can tell the Buffistas that I did it!"

I totally hear that, and am willing to validate you! Go doing onerous tasks! You've done a bunch of them today and that rocks!!!

I have done a few that are not really onerous, except that I hate calling people. Setting up appointments for various Groupons and Living Social certs that I have bought the past month or two. One more to go.

And then I have some work-related onerosity.
