Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I hope you wake to a much better day, smonster. In the meantime, may you sleep well.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Of course, I've probably jinxed it by talking about it.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Break a leg, smonster!

I loved how Buffistas came through for sj. And yes, I agree that fashion and sizes are ridiculous - and this comes from a rather thin woman who comes across, every now and then, in shirts that designed so they won't go through the shoulder line. I still remember one tank top I really wanted badly, but they made its proportions all wrong. Who the fuck let these people design clothes, is beyond me.

Ginger, ~ma to your sick relatives. And to you, who's visiting them.

Andi, it's wonderful you've tried to donate. And the reasoning you wrote about here, of "I wrote it here but should do it ASAP" is something I can echo so well.

And of course, fingers crossing for Vortex!

And now, getting ready to leave the house. After two terror attacks in two days I'm starting to be slightly worried (new technique: drive-by shooting at cars in the West Bank. Which is where I am), mostly for my family - I usually take the buses. But for now, until this will pass, I'd stick to "need to" rides only, and pray they'll continue to focus on roads to small settlements in the meantime. And also remind myself I still have more chances to die in a car crash. And I also hope that the campus library I'm going to today is open. You see, they don't mention in their site the opening hours. Again, people who can't think of their clients are beyond me.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I taught myself how to do alterations and tailoring out of sartorial self-defense. Tiny shoulders, busty, and short-waisted means hardly anything fits properly.

Of course, I've probably jinxed it by talking about it.

No you haven't! I refuse to believe that.

I love that definition.

It's good to hear from you, Shir. When I heard about it on the news, I wondered how close to you that was.

I probably should not be online right now, there is a thunderstorm going on. It's bad enough that Sammie abandoned her sleeping spot at the head of the bed, which is right near a window; and, Harvey actually came upstairs to sit at alert next to me. So now I'm up, and online.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

{{{smonster}}} Hope you're feeling better soon. Sounds like the crappy day to end all crappy days.

Stay safe, Shir. Thinking of you.

Wedding-planning empathy for both lisah and sj. We're meeting with The Girl's friend who's being a bit of a wedding planner for us tomorrow. After driving two hours to our new house and two hours back (if we own it by then). I'm not in the mood to talk about what I'll be wearing on a day when a lot of people will be staring at me. (And The Girl won't even let me wear a corset, unless she can wear jeans. Hmph.) Anyway, I hope you find the perfect dress, sj!

Or you can do what my tall and kinda square-bodied cousin did--she found a vintage pattern and got a local seamstress to make it for her. Looked fabulous!

I'm thinking of getting a dressmaker to make something for me. Don't know where I'd find a pattern, though.

I'm just saying it's not uncommon, as javachik said, for a drug to have ironic side effects.

The first antidepressant I tried made me suicidal. Fortunately, there are other types.

Well done on trying to give blood, WindSparrow, even if they wouldn't let you! Can you try again soon?

Although I still don't know why his hate site entitles him to be a "media expert" while I'm a girly blogger. Sexism: let me show you it.

Gotta love this equal world we live in.

Talking of which, I must get back to the piece I'm writing about disability inequality. Now there's a subject stream that never dries up!

Thanks. While the media stupidly tries to report it as "wave of terror" (for two attacks, right? I seriously hate the media these days), I am slightly worried it might develop into something more serious (after all, we didn't have a war this past summer. Some people are disappointed. For realz). But since the attacks come from the Palestinian territories, they're not that close to me as other settlements around the occupied territories. Close, but hopefully, not close enough.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Sigh. I should not try to operate an electric stove before I'm awake. Just turned on the wrong burner and didn't realize it for 20 minutes.

My sistah! (Oh wait. I can also do that, wide awake. Am not good with "simple" things with too many buttons on).
