Yay for Erin's Thanksgiving Piggie!
And Happy Thanksgiving/Happy Black Friday Eve/Happy Thursday to alla y'all (unless you're in a part of the world where it's no longer Thursday...or not yet Thursday, I can never remember how the time zones go).
My Buffistas are WAY up near the top of the list of Things What I Am Thankful For. (Also thankful for being able to end sentences with prepositions.)
Congratulations on the fantastic ham, Erin.
We are having breaded cod, apparently. I am quite envious of all your turkeys.
Got my pie in about an hour later than I had planned. Mostly because I kept snoozing because two annoying friends sent texts at 7:48 and 8:13 respectively. This would have just necessitated a snort and a rollover, except that I woke to an excrutiating sinus headache that it took me a while to recover from (after trying to fall back asleep, whinging for a bit, finally getting up and taking some meds, going back to bed, etc.) Also, because I underestimated the amount of time it would take to prepare the apples and crust.
Congratulations on the job, Seska!
We are going to a friend's house and all we are bringing is salad, so no turkey smells in the house. Luckily, the DH bought a turkey for us to have T-Giving, The Sequel on Saturday.
There will be 8 of us at this dinner, all old friends. I haven't been to an all grown-up Thanksgiving in years, so that will be interesting. Knowing this friend, there will be great food and excellent weed. I only ever smoke pot when with this couple, maybe once or twice a year, so it is shaping up to be an unusual holiday. I bet the pie will taste damn good.
Yay, ham! Yay Seska's new job!
Chocolate pecan pie is out of oven and cooling. Bird has had aromatics stuffed up its ass and herbs and butter massaged under the skin and is in oven preparing for its eventual fate. Cranberry cherry pear chutney/relish is setting in fridge.
And did I mention that I'm doing this in my OWN HOUSE IN SEATTLE? No family drahma, no chaos, we're just sitting around in sweats and jammies watching the parade and football and snowfall.
If Lewis & I weren't nursing sore throats, I would've suggested a Leftoverpalooza this weekend for the Seattle-istas.
You know... I've got a pretty fucking fantastic life and right at the top of the list of things I'm thankful for are the Buffistas.
Glad you're loving it even after an icepocalypse, living on a hill, Barb! :)
Happy Thanksgiving all! headed out to Mom's with cake and pie!
Glad you're loving it even after an icepocalypse, living on a hill, Barb! :)
Heh-- yeah, it's a bit of an adventure, but at least I have ten years of Ohio winter experience to fall back on. And as much as I miss my little BMW convertible, I'm quite grateful to have my SUV now.
