Shir, that is FANTASTIC. I am so proud of you.
Barb, ask for pimp-ma, of course! That's what Buffistas do, darling.
I've pimped it on Twitter, my Tumblr, my sister's bookstore, and requested it at my library for purchase. You should get a couple sales from that!!
Must finish coffee and then start dusting and sweeping. Tonight, the marination of the ham BEGINS!!! MWAHAHAHA!
Marinate, little piggy, stew in delicious apple juices...
Congrats, Shir! That's really great news and it came so quickly!
~ma for your book release, Barb.
Zenkitty, I'm sorry you and your mom are going through that. It's a lot. Particularly when it's a lot of stuff taking up your physical space as well as the emotional.
Sending you book~ma, Barb.
Tel Aviv city council member just emailed me about Hollaback Israel, asking to meet with me and talk about how to make the streets of Tel Aviv-Yafo safer to women. With laws and whatnot.
Shir, that's AMAZING!! I'm so proud to know you.
Or do they simply think that while pets may be fine for white devil people, an Indian person wanting a pet is just ridiculous?
Our Indian neighbors have a dog. Maybe only dogs can make you happy.
I'm not surprised by P-C's father's stance. My parents would think I'm entirely crazy if I told them a pet was making me actually happy. Pleased, maybe, they'd be willing to allow but never actually emphasise with. It's a common developing country attitude as far as I've encountered it.
Of course, if a pet were making me happy, there would have been a significant tectonic shift of my psyche, and my parents would be excused drilling down further.
ita, have you posted that information with that phrasing before? Because I just got a massive deja vu reading that post.
I've talked about Jamaican attitudes to pets before. I don't know if I'm recycling myself, though.
It could be I'm suffering from a localized time portal. No biggie.
Barb! So much Awesome~ma to you and your book.
And thank you, all. It is incredible. Hollaback NYC had 5 years of stories before that happened.
We're one month old.
(Hey, it's not such hard work, as much as enabling a certain space to exist and "then see what happens". Well, apparently A Lot Happens).
And I've got no one to blame but you people. You're the ones who told me about Hollaback to begin with.
