Cool bit of info: the actor who plays Bill Weasley is Brendon Gleeson's (Mad-Eye) son.
And I loves me some ginger!
My mom is naturally a dark auburn, and I always wished my hair was more like hers than the blah brown it was before it started going grey. Now, Mom's hair is closer to a mousier brown instead of going grey or white (she always says that she'd let it go if it just went grey or white), so she continues to color it.
{{{Ginger}}} I'm so sorry for all of the losses in your family; tons of ~ma for all of them.
So, the carrot cake turned out decently for a first attempt. I think I baked it maybe 5 minutes too long (the corners were a little brick-like), and it wasn't as moist as it should be (admittedly, I didn't put in enough oil, because I always assume that recipes use too much; also, I thought that shredded carrot would add a LOT of moisture to the cake), and I think it could have been just a wee tiny bit sweeter (though the frosting alleviated that issue).
Tim was happy with it, and his dad asked us to leave him a big piece, so they're either being very nice, or it really was fairly decent. But if I make it again, I'll tweak it as above.
The Corset Inspector badge didn't get delivered until this morning (thanks, USPS), but it was well-received nonetheless. I imagine some corset inspecting will happen later today.
The anti-ginger thing is weird. I totally didn't notice it when I lived in the UK.
But I like how the Weasleys are redeeming gingerness for a new generation.
I sure hope so. I didn't become aware of the UK anti-ginger thing until the last few years. It saddens me.
My dad, grandmother and uncle were redheads. And unfortunately that gene is not dominant in me. Although in our family it's flame red and I think I'd be fonder of auburn for meself...
Good trivia, Kathy. And now that I know that I can't believe I didn't spot it because he looks very much like his dad.
Now I can't help feeling like Moody and Molly had a thing before she married Arthur.
I've always been amused at how red hair seems to be an Irish thing and a Russian thing. Like how did that happen?

Vikings!
Semi-apropos to this conversation, I am eating gingerbread.
