Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Always Anti-fascist!

When it was safer to make a joke using words like "terrorist" I used to say I could make some nice coin sneaking mad bombers on airplanes while the whole airport screeched to a fucking halt realizing that"Oh, shit, wheelchairs are metal too." Then, they have to find the one female metal-screener, in case I think this is foreplay.(Like the Ring, there is only one.) Also: Please don't try to fold my chair...it doesn't. Thanks. Did I mention my chair's epic non-foldingness? Please don't touch that. I know you've folded things twice the size, but...sigh. I'd love to see Parker on Leverage do that. (They "folded" it and broke things...I think they took my warning as a challenge instead.) Woo hoo...WPITW is back. Apparently the Countdown audience said "Civility? Fuck that."*Not really.

Sometimes you can be shocked at someone's appearance if you haven't seen her for a while, especially in Hollywood.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I agree with you, Steph, so I try not to -- but its hard to be treated as ill and repulsive when super skinny is almost always HAWT no matter how ill it may be.

Compassionately intolerant

Much job~ma to Aims. The world needs you as a teacher. Also, clue-sticking all around Seska's university, which I would have thought would have been thoroughly clued years ago.

What Ginger said, on both counts.

Sympathies to you and your family, ND. I am sorry for your loss.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

ND, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I have a sister that for most of her life was a "feed her a sandwich" body type. naturally very thin. Skinny. so i actually believe that there are a wide range of body types that are natural.

Definitely. Different people are differently shaped. Whoda thunk it?

I bristle at the "I'm just concerned about your HEALTH" excuse for commenting on how someone's body is too fat/thin. Because unless you actually know their medical history, it's pretty damn hard to assess someone's health by just looking at their body shape. Not all thin people are anorexic or, indeed, have health risks just because they're on one end of the bell curve. Just like not all fat people have The Diabeetus or heart disease or any other medical condition that's ascribed to being overweight.

You can *say* you're concerned about someone's health, but if you're basing your concern on an assumption instead of actual knowledge, maybe skip the concern.

Probably if she's a stranger, skip it anyway. I know I got tired of hearing about everybody's crippled grandson who was so helped by the mare-placenta injections or whatnot.(I think there is no treatment so weird that there isn't somebody who is helped by it.)
