Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

After a moment of stunned silence one of my team said, "Dude, "killed by volcano" is second only to "eaten by dinosaurs" in getting kids to engage with history."

He obviously knows nothing about kids. But it does remind me of the tour guide at the Edward Gorey museum having to explain to one of the other tourists that no, most kids are not traumatized by The Gashlycrumb Tinies.

Now tagless for your comfort.

No jury of my peers in the world...

I have it on good authority that you've been in Wisconsin when this guy "disappears."

The filled-in concrete corpses alone in Pompeii got me hooked for good on archeology. Well, that and the penis graffiti.

Pompeii was definitely one of the most amazing places I have ever seen in my life.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Well, that and the penis graffiti.

Dude, 9th grade Italian class, Mr. Whatsisname didn't realize until too late that he'd put in the real slide carousel from his vacation instead of the sanitized-for-14-year-olds one? Hooked me on everything from history to Italian to technology in the classroom.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

It took us a bit to parse what he meant.

I'm still not entirely sure I'm parsing what he meant. Is there supposed to be something about volcanos that would offend tender sensibilities? (I mean, sure, if you dropped one in.) Or is he not aware it's been excavated and thinks it's a fake?

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Have repaired washing machine.

You are my hero! I don't suppose the dryer got itself straightened out, too?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah I am really boggled about the volcano.

ita, is the toothpaste thing Tom`s? Because I have been thwarted in my search for travel size Tom`s, which makes me sad. And my teeth feel weird and foamy with any other toothpaste.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I'd love the link.

Rode my bike for the first time in a while. Did some errands. Feels good to get out. I wish I wasn't so bad about developing the routine. I nearly always feel better when I do it but it is murder trying to get me out there.

ION, Trader Joe's is filled with all sorts of once-a-year goodies. Like these chocolate-covered peppermint marshmallows. When am I going low-glycemic again? *checks watch*

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Hon, YOUR peers? The papyrus thing alone

Not that we use that juridical system in Israel, but hell yes.
