Because books.

Plei, what do you do in the deep oilings? S. has crazy coarse dry hair, worse now that it's completely gray. Regular conditioner ain't cutting it at all.

Have you tried Moraccan oil, Amy?

Or mayonnaise. It has protein and oil. I mayo my hair every few months. Leaves it soft and shiny.

Because books.

I haven't, but I'll look, Erin. Thanks!

And then what, Vortex? Just rinse it out? Shampoo it out? I don't think his hair is ever going to be silky soft again, but it definitely needs something. Poor white-haired noodle.

“Not dead yet!”

And in the continuing crazy that is my mother, she's apparently now planning an exorcism (she's calling it a Mass) of her house. There are apparently dead spirits hanging around that are trying to take others with them, thereby explaining her recent car accident.

Which occurred nowhere near the house.

I shampoo it out because I have thin hair. People with thicker hair may just want to rinse.

Silly Barb, they went from the house to the car!

Of course. What could I have been thinking?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I am now picturing the spirits riding around with their heads sticking out of the window and their tongues hanging out. (Best part - you don't even have to open the window!)

“Not dead yet!”

Okay, so this is what I sent LawyerMan in response:

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, but I've been head down in promotion work (two weeks until release day!) as well as hosting out of town guests, so I had to wait to give this my undivided attention.

At any rate, I agree that acknowledgement that they agree with what you suggested in our last letter is at the very least implied. However, that said, I'm concerned about its wording, with the onus of responsibility resting more or less completely on my shoulders. I know that for her, it's all about a power play-- giving the appearance that she's calling the shots, but that's something I find rather unnerving, especially when you take into account point #6. I have to tell you, that one really makes me uncomfortable, because "actual confusion" is something that's too easily subject to interpretation (especially with the inclusion of "or use by third parties" caveat) and as such, doesn't really seem to resolve anything, other than to say I'm not going to interfere with her use of the name.

If, as you suggest (and I happen to agree), they're going to want to draft an agreement that will require signatures to make this all official, then I want some assurance that this isn't going to happen again if she happens to imagine some slight or confusion has taken place. I'm giving her essentially what she wants, I'd like something in return, namely, peace of mind.

Trust me when I say I don't want this dragging out any longer than it has to, but at the same time, I'd like to minimize the chances that this will happen again as much as possible.

Also, what's the possibility of not sending this until after November 23rd? I'd like to put this off as much as possible until after my book has released. It's already been enough of a distraction, and I'd really like to enjoy my launch, you know?

Not said in the email is that I'd like to hold off on sending it until the 23rd because at this point, I've got a case of the "don' wannas" when it comes to wanting to change my website.

Why yes, I'm three years old.

Oy, Barb, with the crazy lady. You go get 'er!

erin, I only use conditioner, and I think my hair is happier for it -- softer, less frizzy, curlier. Plus, cheaper for me to only buy one product instead of two! I just massage it in really well in the shower, which stirs up all the dirt & stuff that then washes out when I rinse out the conditioner. It's easy, and the adjustment period was only a week or so for me.
