You're welcome. Yay for Amych on fencing, and Shir for Hollaback Israel.
'Life of the Party'
Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Excellent news, Shir. May you get the feedback you need, and get the site up and running. And may it be a voice for women in Israel, helping you work together for your rights and your safety.
Congrats, Shir!
I went out in the misty/drizzly day and tried to get the 1 year old heirloom seed garlic planted. Found that most of them had not survived well so I don't expect a good germination rate. Had to clean up the pool shed to even get to the planting stuff (the extra pots and stuff are stored in the enclosure that the pool pump, etc. are in).
I was so tempted to just start digging into the ground where I've been allowed to have a small garden. But I knew that I'd get one or two digs in and completely strip my hands/arms' ability for the day. And probably piss off the 'rents. Very difficult to be patient, though! Gardening is therapeutic to me and I need therapy now in the worst way.
It's nice to have been outside, though.
yeah right! That also was the party were e_o met a lot of us buffistas, iirc. There were like 5 of us there, no?
Indeed, there may have been a quorum of some form, including BillyTea on his limited edition stateside tour.
It is all true! Teppy came to see me fence, which was AWE to the SOME!! And met the spouse as well as various coaches and clubmates and fencing friends and such. And learned of wacky things like the fact that the fencing world can argue about colored vs. white socks FOR YEARS in much the same way we can go on about serial commas. Because fencers are more or less as nerdy and obsessive as Buffistas, only smellier and more likely to be armed.
And Jane Eyre is really Jane Eyre's real name, and she's currently the veteran women's world champion, and I got a couple of very sweet touches on her on the way to losing my bout with her. But, you know, WORLD CHAMPION. And I ended up in 8th place, which was utterly fabulous and tomorrow I get to go do it all again, but this time fencing a group of mostly 17-year-olds.
Y'all, I have worked so hard for this, and had so much frustration and so much joy and built a whole life around it and this was my first national event in the veteran's category -- which I've said for years was what I was working toward long-term, but didn't always totally believe that that wasn't just an excuse for my results against the 17-year-olds -- and I got on the medal stand with the ladies who are up there every time. AND IT'S ALL THE BUFFISTAS FAULT BECAUSE SA SUGGESTED CO-WRITING A WESLEY WYNDAM-PRYCE/LEX LUTHOR CROSSOVER FENCING FIC AND I THOUGHT I OUGHT TO DO SOME RESEARCH.

Ha! AWESOME. And congrats again!

Would you believe me if I said that was my plan all along?
...no? Oh, well.
See? Research is important.
