You would think. But.... No.
Well that's just selfish of them.
My 4-hour window for the oven installers was 12-4. Clearly they didn't realize they were doing this for a VERY HUNGRY PREGNANT WOMAN so for lunch I'm attempting to make rice in the microwave. (And then I shall heat up some canned pinto beans in the microwave with a chopped jalapeno from the CSA. And then I shall eat them both with cheese on top.)
I'm sure they're thinking, "Eh, he can eat dust bunnies this weekend. And if he really needs gas for his car this will be a good chance for him to borrow his neighbor's rollerblades. It's good for him really."
You left off, "Builds character."
I have enough character for, like, sixty other people.

Hee! The few times someone has told me to do something because it "builds character", I have looked at them and asked "I need more character?"
Microwave rice = surprisingly good! (Not that surprising, since rice cooks by steaming which is what microwaves do. But it never occurred to me to make it this way before.)
Naturally the Sears installers showed up just as I was about to eat lunch. But I now have a SHINY NEW STOVE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS. And it has 5 burners and self-cleans and the broiler element isn't on the floor!

Srsly! I boggle at the idea it would even occur to someone to say that to you.

Yay! Good, innit? Ours was installed yesterday. We cooked today. Exciting times.
I need a new stove. I'm pretty sure the one I have was installed new in the unit back in the 50's, when the building was built.
I'm surprised (not really) there's no direct deposit option. Wouldn't it save the state a lot of money to go paperless on this?
When Tom was getting unemployment, MA did direct deposit. Sucks that CA doesn't!
Thanks for your kind thoughts. It was a hard day yesterday and this morning. There were some moments of clarity, and she knows that I love her. I told her it was OK for her to let go, but she isn't ready yet, it seems.
I've come back to MA to go to a wedding this afternoon/evening.
Yesterday (well, today really) I learned that I should not try to drink with the 20-somethings. But it was so fun!
