Yay Magnolia. Stay home now, please.
Ugh so sorry about The Alchemist. Rebuilding~ma to Waterbury.
health~ma father-of-omnis. I hope it's just gas.
coping~ma, aims. You mentioned the facebook posts were passive-aggressive. I'm guessing they are not explicitly aimed at you. I have a FB 'friend' who is the queen of the passive-aggressive post. Probably some of her posts are directed at me but since she never gets specific, I have no way of knowing for sure, therefore I carry on with the assumption that NONE of them are. If she's not going to be specific, I'm not going to engage her. But then this is someone with whom I'm not really intestested in a true friendship.
You also said f2f they are treating Joe differently. If they're being cold to you and it's not just the FB and they can't see that even an Empress can make a mistake worth forgiving in order to continue to be friends with someone so awesome. Well then I agree, fuck 'em.
A friend of mine's been posting her experiences 6 years ago with evacuating, &tc, with Katrina, and just got to the part where, "August 29 th 2005. About 5 am i finally fell asleep after following the Katrina. I had only lost contact with my dad for about 2 hours during the hight of the winds. I had talked to him after the winds died down a little and beathed a sign of relief because only the garage had collapsed and the bar had lost part of the roof. We, like many in The city thought we had dodged a bullet. Damage like that could be fixed."
But, you know, not so much. It's not the event itself that only needs attention, it's everything surrounding it. It's not a question of this+ hurricane= or does not = disaster.
There's also a picture of what used to be Elm St in Waterbury.
The corner of Elm and Main is where the Alchemist is. It's just out of frame on the bottom left of the picture.
I am so sorry to hear about your brother's restaurant, Steph. That truly sucks.
Oh, there's actually a picture of people peering in the windows of the Alchemist. Jeez.
Oh, there's actually a picture of people peering in the windows of the Alchemist.
Yeah. People are pretty ghoulish about such things.
Seems there were a lot of lookieloos around the state. I saw some pictures of people standing really close to flood waters taking pictures or having their picture taken.
I know there's one confirmed report of a woman being swept away in the flood waters. I think she was driving and her car stalled in high water and she got out and was swept away.
Yay for Magnolia recovery, smonster! Also hoping StW responds to your e-mail in a timely manner.
Nothing~ma for your dad, omnis.
Very sorry to hear about your brother's restaurant, Tep. Good thing FEMA wouldn't let the building owner drop the insurance. The point of insurance is to have it when you need it, means ya gotta pay for it when you don't. Sheesh.
askye, very glad you've been able to remain safe with all the crazy weather.
Aims, I'm thinking you're going to just have to let that friendship go by-the-by for now at least. It sounds like she's still grieving and she's going to take it out on you for a while. If it was a valuable friendship, I hope you're able to reconnect when she's in a better place.
So sorry about The Alchemist, Tep.
Aims, that truly sucks. Especially since they seems to be treating Joe differently than you. Not fair!
I just made $20.00 at the DMV. I went to get my license renewed, and after waiting in line for 3+ hours, a Duke professor offered me money for my place in line. It ended up saving him about 15 minutes. Cash money!
