That doberge cake sounds a lot like what we call a dobosh torte around here: [link] I used to love to make them when I was in high school, haven't tried one in years.
The Dean of my division has nominated me for a department administrator certificate program, I am totally chuffed. I'm hoping it means that they want me to replace someone that retired this year even though they were talking about not hiring a replacement. Keep your fingers crossed for me, it would be a significant boost in pay.
dobosh torte
that's
it. I knew that I knew it but I couldn't think of it.

Do you normally look for it? If not, well, I can't imagine it gets much press.
It seems like the sort of thing the press would love. Especially the video editor in charge of blurring.
Yay ceiling fan. We live off ours. But we have the desert day/night swing to help us out. It's 80 out but 70 in without air conditioning right now. We had the windows open all night and closed them in the morning and it's nice and comfy now.
Ooh, good for you, Sail!
Sail, that sounds wonderful!
I am really stoked about it! It's 30 hours of instruction and a certificate that I have a feeling will open a lot of doors on campus, even if I don't stay with the division. I'm thinking, too, my boss is planning on retiring the end of this year and that may be why I'm being offered this. I just don't want to get my hopes up too high because the past couple of years have taught me that any aspirations I've had in regards to my career are laughed at long and loudly by an uncaring universe.

You can certainly be excited that they think so much of you, whatever happens.
Holy crap, someone's washing their dishes without having to be asked!
There's a post-doc that I'm thinking about applying for. I think I've got a decent shot at getting it, and it's something I'm really interested in, but it's in Arizona, which is making me think maybe not. I don't know what to do. (But I have time to think about it, since they're not going to start accepting applications for a few months.)
