Jayne: That's a good idea. Good idea. Tell us where the stuff's at so I can shoot you. Mal: Point of interest? Offering to shoot us might not work so well as an incentive as you might imagine.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Which hotel do they have you at?

Cabs are wicked expensive there. As a result, I spent a lot of time walking and STILL spent a bazillion on cabs.

Plus right now it's probably so hot in Vegas you don't want to walk anywhere!

Nora, what is doberge cake?

I'm at the Las Vegas Hilton. I can see the strip out my east facing window, and it's not close! We kicked around the hotel tonight. Tomorrow is cocktail and dinner provided by Yamaha, so we shall see if need to head out. And yes, it is wicked hot. 110° in the shade.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We have a ceiling fan in our dining room! We had asked for one because our dining room light was frayed and unusable and our landlord had said we could buy one or he would replace the light with a fixture of his choosing. We told him to just put what he wanted there because we didn't want to pay for something that we would have to take down when we moved, and he surprisingly chose a ceiling fan! It's probably the cheapest model they had at Home Depot, but it's something.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Doberge cake is a traditional New Orleans style that involves many thin layers of cake with awesome filling between them with a hard-ish frosting exterior: [link]

The ones that Twelve Mile Limit serves are by Debbie Does Doberge: [link] She does cupcakes and "bites" in addition to cakes. Usually 12ml just does the cupcakes and bites but they were selling slices of a blueberry cream cheese doberge cake last night.

Hooray ceiling fans! I couldn't live without ours.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Sounds a little like Smith Island Cake.

Pretty sunrise in the desert. Guess the window isn't facing true east. Thus proving, my sense of direction at night is still kafloey.

Yippee ceiling fan! They really do help a lot. I keep wanting to make one that works on counter weights instead of electricity. Dunno why. I'm not that big of a tinkerer.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I have never been to Vegas. It's on my list. I was very disappointed when we stayed overnight at the Pala casino that they don't seem to have Texas Hold 'em like you see on TV (or, to be honest about what I was looking for, Red Dead Redemption). The game we sat down to, everyone played against the dealer's hand and there was no rebetting after the flop, turn, and river. Is what I'm thinking of called "sit & go"? Do casinos sponsor casual games like that? (But how would they make money off it?) Or do you have to join a tournament?

(Yes, D = Spidey... aren't we FB friends, omnis?)

I've never been to Vegas either, which is probably a good thing. I like gambling a bit too much so I don't go to casinos very often.
