My sinuses are so painful tonight that my teeth hurt.
Oooh! I know this one! And it sucks. Get the mighty drugs tomorrow.
I suspect I have a root canal (or possibly more than one) in my future. I have a dentist appointment Friday to find out.
Back in November (yeah, I *know* I've waited too long, but there seriously is logic of a sorts behind why) I had some extremely deep fillings done in my top right back teeth. And the dentist told me that I might have sensitivity to heat/cold, as well as general discomfort, for several months *because* the fillings were so deep -- I guess when they're very deep, they're close to the nerve(s) and can shake things up.
She also gave me a handout (So You've Gotten A Shitload Of Very Deep Fillings) that said basically the same thing -- due to the fillings being deep, it might be several months before things settled down.
Well (and this is where my weaksauce "logic" comes into play), the term "several months" is pretty fucking vague to me. I assume it's more than 3, but what is the goddamn upper limit? Six? Nine? I don't know what in the hell "several" means, especially when it comes to tooth sensitivity!
...so I waited it out until now because, well, I have become one of those people who doesn't want to go to the dentist because my teeth ALREADY hurt, and I don't want them to hurt more from the dentist poking around.
Yeah, I know.
I can't have anything cold on my upper right back teeth AT ALL. And what's weird (or maybe not) is that my lower right teeth have become sensitive to cold also (I say maybe not weird because I know the trigeminal nerve feeds the upper and lower jaw, so if the nerve is irritated, then I can see why both the upper and lower are sensitive).
The aforementioned handout (So You've Gotten A Shitload Of Very Deep Fillings) *did* say that with fillings that deep, the pulp might be damaged (in fact, actually *getting* deep fillings can potentially damage the pulp), and ultimately root canal might be called for.
So, arrrrgh. But I realized I'm being silly by putting it off. Not being able to eat/drink cold food/beverages for almost a year is insane, and it's a problem of my own making.
So now I'm going to fix it, goddammit.
