Question: Will hiding in a cavern with stockpiled chocolate goods be any part of this plan?

As my mother keeps saying, "It's hell to get old." When was the surgery, Nora?

I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis in my right foot for several months now. It took a while to get various appointments. I had a cortisone shot last week which didn't do much and saw a podiatrist today. She says supportive shoe inserts, wear shoes with inserts all the time (I hate shoes), ice three times a day, stretching and nsaids. I've been doing the stretching and some ice, although not as often she prescribes, and taking the nsaids.

I normally go to the Y five mornings a week and do weights MWF and a half hour of treadmill or elliptical every day. I've skipped some because my foot was bothering me, but generally have kept to that. The podiatrist says no weight-bearing exercise until I'm better, but weights are all right except for things like leg presses and squats. I go to the Y with my neighbor and we reinforce each other.

The other piece of the equation is that the book festival is labor day weekend, and I'll be on my feet for two days. I don't want to cancel that, because they don't have enough experienced captains.

Do I stop going to the Y altogether until after labor day and concentrate on treating my foot? Do I go MWF and just do weights? Do I retire to my bed with the vapors?

“Not dead yet!”

My friend Kimmie says that we're in the tail end of Mercury in retrograde. So that's why everything sucks.

Cranky little fucker goes out of retrograde on Friday. Day AFTER my birthday.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Maybe we will too!

Wanna? I'm eating my dinner now, but I'll be done by quarter of.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I would say keep doing the weights, since it can only help as far as physical readiness, as long as you're not stressing your feet.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Ow. Stupid body. I'm trying to decide how to attack this pain, since I need to sleep tonight but I also need to be awake tomorrow.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ginger, I know if it was me, keeping the current schedule as much as possible would be easiest over the long term. So, keep doing the weights, maybe alternate upper body MWF and lower TTh, or something, to make going 5 days reasonable. Or if there's a steam room or whirlpool or something kind of pampery, maybe use that on the alternate days, just so you maintain the habit of going to the Y.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

While I was doing screen share tech support on fancy/complex system, realtor left message that condo got a cash offer, asking if I wanted to be the back up offer. No thanks.

Too much to do! And I'm getting on plane for conference tomorrow, and seeing free show tonight. Need clone! Ack.

My sinuses are so painful tonight that my teeth hurt. It's convenient that I already have a doctor's appointment scheduled for tomorrow.

I'm pretty good at getting back to it, partly because my neighbor will bug me. Another part of the equation is doing the whole ice and stretching routine takes time. I'm leaning toward just going MWF and maybe skipping the rest of this week. Of course, my foot hurts like hell at the moment because I went to Costco, which is influencing my decision.

In that case, MWF sounds like a good plan. I was not considering how time consuming the icing and stretching could be, and having your neighbor bug you is good.

Every time I've done the workout buddy thing hoping we would get each other to go, we would both get unmotivated on the same days and slack off together instead. Not so effective.
