I said I'm sorry. I've made mistakes, but fear was never one of them.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

In New Orleans, things are not "designed" as much as "evolved."

I believe the narrow property lots of the city and the fact that bathrooms and kitchens became standard rather later in the architectural process informed the "design."

Sadly, this philosophy of evolutionary and passive design also seems to apply to things like levees and roadways.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

DCJ, it was more like, "Let's tax property frontage, hallways, and closets!"

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I'm wearing a new nail polish and really liking it. Essie's "Thigh High" - it's a deep, subtly metallic red with some brown in it that in some lights goes almost red-copper.

“Not dead yet!”

Urgh, that reminds me-- I have to do something about my nails. Like, you know, actually manicure them.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

While there are a lot of shotgun houses in urban areas with narrow lots, there are also a lot in the rural South and probably impoverished areas everywhere before the '30s. They're cheap to build. People didn't have the same sense of privacy and, when you think about it, not much need to worry about waking people up. If you're poor and without electricity, you're stuck with early to bed and early to rise.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I did mine with Nubar`s Noir. Then I layered OPI Rosy Future over it thinking it would give it a pinky black sheen but I guess it`s a duochrome? Because it gave it a blue sheen instead. It`s pretty! Although not what I intended. But I got a compliment on it, so all yay! It`ll be gone in, like, a day though. Camp life is not conducive to pristine manicures. Anyway, I wore a blue shirt today like I`d meant to do it all along.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

What Ginger said. Also, modular -- if you were really dirt-poor (and most were) you could start with a single room, then add another as money allowed and space was needed. Hallways (and rooms planned for a specific purpose -- living, bed, whatever -- as opposed to needing A Room) have to be mapped out in advance.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ooo Toddson, just looked at some swatches. What a gorgeous color.

I had been wearing really murky, greyed out colors, but then realized I was missing the bright fun of summer colors. So now I am wearing OPI Catch me in your net. Pretty! And I forgot how well this color lasts.

::sigh:: One of the nose bridge cushion thingies just fell off my glasses. And into the toilet. Time to find a glasses repair place.
