[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

My Mom went to a forum to see the candidates for mayor. Her reaction "I'm going to vote for so-and-so. He's bright, takes the right positions on all the issues. Too bad he doesn't have a personality."

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I had my last PT session today. I get a discount to join the gym, and the price is more reasonable than expected. So, I may just be able to afford it.

I also went to the Borders I used to work at to see how people were handling the closing news. There was only one person working that I knew, but I just feel so bad for everyone who doesn't know where the money is going to be coming from after this. I'll probably go back again soon to try to see a couple more people that still work there but weren't on today.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

My dad called yesterday to say they were closing the Border's on his side of town. That means no Border's in Madison at all. He's upset because he goes there for coffee every day and now he feels he's got nowhere to go. There's a Barnes and Noble barely a block from the Border's, but dad doesn't like their coffee shop and he knew all the clerks at Border's. They'd practically have his coffee waiting for him, he's that predictable. I suspect he'll end up going there anyway, he's a creature of routine.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I cracked up the scheduler at Kaiser. My plantar fasciitis has hit defcon 4, to the point that I can't do any amount of walking without spending the rest of the day staring at my tiny codeine stash. I can't get an appointment to get a cortisone shot or a heel amputation for three more weeks, so I'm spending my days calling in case there's an cancellation. I apologized for bothering them, and the scheduling person said, "That's our job. We're here to help you." I asked her how the Kool-aid was.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ginger, I was reading an article in the Times about testing they'd done on those shape-up or whatever shoes with the uneven sole. Upshot was that they make virtually no difference for fitness/muscle growth, but the one thing they do seem to help a lot with is plantar's and other heel/ankle issues. Might be worth a shot.

Our wings are not tired.

And if that's the case, and Ginger wears a size 8.5-9, I have an almost-new pair that I can send her (the color doesn't go with anything in my wardrobe and I have two other pairs anyway).

I appreciate it, but my feet are bigger.

I have one version of those that don't seem to do much, but that doesn't mean that another type might not help. Of course, the reason I have so many shoes is the vain search for shoes that don't hurt.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Ginger, have you tried Keens? My mom has PF and swears by them.

No Border's anywhere anymore. The liquidation sale for all remaining stores begins tomorrow.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

So, I'm icing my knee--took my first big fall since I've been back at the rink. Thursday afternoon is kid skate and when we club skaters get there after, the rink can be a little grotty. An adorable tiny pink plastic sequin locked my skate wheel and I slammed down on my knee. I got up and skated again, just to make sure that I could.

I am home icing it. It's gonna have a huge bruise plus I scraped the shit out of it. Am I perverse that I love that no one responds when you fall on the rink, no matter how old or young you are? You are expected to get yourself up and keep on skating if you possibly can. Falling is part of the deal and even though most people practicing are wearing foofy little dresses, they are TOUGH.
