Workbench and all it's lil parts and tools is packed. Now it's the desk, and all the stuff high up that I can't reach, or heavy stuff I can't lift. Pew. Iz tired. I thought moving an apartment sucked. Moving a workshop ain't no walk in the park either.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Barb sounds like a great reason to splurge. I'm sure you'll do great in the competition.
It's hot. I hate to be in Vermont and complaining about the heat when so many people are dealing with higher heat. But It's nearly 10 and it's 80 F outside. I was hoping to open some windows and get some cool air in, but I think I just succeeded in making it hotter. It FELT cooler outside, because it's around 85F inside. I just keep telling myself if the weather forecast holds it's only three days of heat. I can take it.
I suddenly want a tat that says "Don't speak Latin in front of the books." In Latin.
Would that be
Latine loqui non ante libri
or
Ante librorum Latine non loquuntur
or
Nolite loqui Latine in fronte libri
Google translate is basically useless when you haven't studied the linguistics of the output...
Word order is insignificant. Normally when translating into latin, start with a verb, then the associated subject, then all the other words...then drop all the words on the paper in whatever order scans best.
eta: my HS Latin teacher's favorite phrase was "word order is insignificant in Latin." Pretty sure he said that EVERY CLASS. It's a lesson that stuck :)

I love this about Latin. I wonder if folks from different regions had different habits about how they ordered words, like an accent.
This is the precise reason I am going with one word in Latin. My five years can easily do that correctly myself, but I wouldn't be able to do Jilli's phrase without a day of research!
smonster, I have an owl on my left shoulder! I don't have any good pix of it, but it's a very nicely done rendition of Athena's owl: [link]
And the Latin tattoo link is like crack.
I have been dreadfully serious in my Wordslinger posts. I think I need a post/writing sample -- trying to treat all posts as writing samples of a type, or as info for possible clients' needs -- involving tattoos, perhaps terribly worded Latin and other foreign language tattoos.
And I could go get a tattoo and write it off as a deduction: "But I was writing an article for my BUSINESS! It was research; I'm that dedicated to my art, man!"
I should not be allowed to wander Sephora unsupervised.
Be advised that I am NOT a designated adult in such a situation. I am, unsurprisingly, a fabulous enabler.
My stew wasn't terrible! It was rather good! I used this basic recipe [link] but subbed 2 small banana peppers for the bell peppers, and added 2 cups of okra. It made about five servings - StW and N (roomie) and I ate, and there were two left over, so I put one in the fridge for lunch and one in the freezer. Still have about half the peas and half the okra yet, maybe I'll make some dirty rice.
Speaking of StW, turns out he had some kind of reaction as well - I got to listen to him practice his diagnostic capabilities using our sex life as an example. Which was funny, and maybe just a little unsettling. He gets points for proper use of Occam's Razor, for sure.

I know! You tried to take a picture and show me, remember?

Duly noted. Not that that'll stop me from dragging you along with me should occasion arise.
I suppose I also shouldn't mention that I saw two lipsticks that virtually screamed Jilli's name, right?
Right.
