[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

“Not dead yet!”

PT ~ma, sj-- it'll all be good. Just remember, your well-being is what's most important.

IOmeN, we made the decision to enroll Abby in the same school Nate attends. Even though they're very different students with very different needs (and while she's very much a go-with-the-flow student) we did notice her grades dropping this year. Not because the work became harder or anything, but more because she's not being challenged enough. In other words, she's bored out of her skull. And when the outside world bores her, she retreats into AbbyLand, which is a wonderful place, to be sure, but citizenship there doesn't help much when it comes to keeping up with schoolwork. ("Schoolwork? There was schoolwork?")

So we're hoping that going to Chrysalis will engage her on a lot of different levels and encourage that creative side that's such a strength of hers.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

PT~ma, sj. I hope this situation works out in your favor. What a ridiculous unnecessary mess.

Oh, that was me! I hated it when people made me come out of InsideMyHeadLand.

Teppy, my boss violates HHIIPPAA all the damn time. She's been reported, and has never gotten in trouble for it. Probably because no one can prove that it happened. IOW, I hope that stupid bastard gets fired.

Aims, ouch! Have good drugs! But it might have almost been worth it, right, to find out how calm and clear-headed and helpful Em is in emergency situations!

Erin, stop accomplishing so much when you aren't accomplishing anything. You're making us lazy fuckers look bad. hmpf

OMG I kinda joined Geek2Geek and a guy "favorited" me and he's PERFECT ON PAPER. What do I do? I haven't even written a profile; he must have "picked" me based solely on my location and my photo. How do I write a profile for a geeky dating site?

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Barb, that sounds like a good decision! I hope it works out well; it did for Nate, IIRC.

Zen, you can look at my old OKCupid profile if you wanna get some pointers. The fields are probably different for G2G, but it might be helpful. My user name is Pharaby. I never go there anymore, but I've got a couple of friends on there, so I kept the profile up, under MARRIED AND I DON'T WANT TO FUCK YOU.

Be YOURSELF is key

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Awesome!

I think the usual thing would be to just send a short email--maybe a few sentences. (Perhaps with a question or two.) If he responds then you could send longer messages.

There's a pretty big variety of profiles on gk2gk. I think whatever you come up with would be good, but you could check out other profiles to get some ideas....

The other day, someone "favorited" me and sent me a "wink" on Geek2Geek, but her profile is hidden, so there's no way for me to respond to her or even find out anything about her.

Personally, I think just "favoriting" someone on a dating site like g2g is kinda' lame--why not just send a short email? OTOH, perhaps he doesn't realize when you "favorite" someone, they get an email. (I did that once. The woman wrote back. We have lots in common, but our first date was the last. The old "no chemistry" demon reared its ugly head again....)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

another random drug question -- anyone know how long should I wait to have a drink? I know that I wasn't supposed to drink while taking the antibiotics (and I've been sooooo good), but I took my last one this morning. I'm having dinner with a friend tomorrow, and want to know if I could have a glass of wine.

You're fine to booze it up! ...I mean, to have a glass of wine.

Relatedly, I feel like crapsticks today. I'm working at home, for just half a day. I know I need to wait until Thursday to call the doctor (wait, did I post about this in Natter yesterday, rather than here? I think I did t edit Yes, I did: Steph L. "Natter 68: Bork Bork Bork" Jul 18, 2011 11:32:52 am PDT), but I keep going back and forth between freezing cold and broiling hot (yet I have no fever), and my cough is back, and my chest kind of hurts (I assume related to the cough), and I've had to use my albuterol inhaler the past day and a half.

One factor is that our air quality is Seventh Ring of Hell right now, and since I'm already sick, my lungs are all, "Bitch, we CANNOT take this crap; we're just going to go over here and lay down for a while." I get that. But I can't tell if I'm in the category of "Taking a long time to get better" or "Getting worse."

Bah. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it and call the doctor if my chest hurts more (it doesn't hurt much right now; it's more sore than anything, which I assume is from the coughing, thank you crappy air quality). Otherwise I'll wait until Thursday for the full antibiotic effect before I call them to beg for a magical cure/witch doctor.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh dear Steph, I find those symptoms worrisome. I know my sister the doctor would say that not getting better IS getting worse, so my advice is to call the doctor.

Sending you get better vibes, too.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Teppy, what Burrell said. Call and let your doctor decide if you should be worried or not. She may suggest steroids to help your lungs along.

Teppy, what they said. Better to call the doctor and be sure.

Erin, can I view your profile without creating a OKCupid account?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Zen, you should be able to see mine, unless I have some privacy settings on that I forgot about.
