smonster, one of my favorite cartoons showed a not-quite-awake woman having breakfast and her two cats; one cat says to the other that its favorite meal is breakfast - you never know if you're going to get Kitty Bits or chunk light tuna in spring water.
And I had an encounter with a neighbor and her dog - they live across the hall from me, so I see them fairly often and usually pet the dog and scratch behind his ears. He's a big, floofy white dog, one brown eye, one blue, very friendly. He saw me and perked up - ears up, tail wagging, ran over to me ... then smelled something interesting, stopped to sniff, then headed back to me, let me get in one pat, then ran off in another direction. His person's comment? "He has a very small brain."
Apparently sharing an article on facebook from another site fixed my facebook issue. Technology is weird.
See? Sharing is A Good Thing.
Teppy, I'm sorry your vacation isn't cooperating with your need for actual rest and recreation. But about Crocodile on the Sandbank, I can say that the Amelia Peabody mysteries definitely make things better. Also, they include what I consider to be THE best title for a book, EVAR: The Last Camel Died at Noon.
I saw her speak at a bookstore (she's local!) right about the time that came out. She came sweeping into the store wearing a long khaki skirt, a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a pith helmet.
She also writes as Barbara Michaels, fyi.
Man, I used to read the hell out of her! I liked the Peterson's better than the Micheal's, because I think her love of Egypt adds a shine to the Peabody books that was missing from the Micheals'
Happy Canada Day you hosers.
BWA-snort!
That was unexpected, Laga!
Heh.
Teppy, may the rest of your vacation pass peacefully and delightfully.
Aims, I'm sorry that you're sick but glad to know you will head to the doctor if it gets bad or sticks around too long.
ou never know if you're going to get Kitty Bits or chunk light tuna in spring water.
Heh.
I read a lot of the Peters when I was a teenager, poaching off my mom's mysteries when I had finished my own library books.
Two more tidbits about yesterday's date, who may need an acronym b/c his first initial is B: 1) he got my drink at the coffee place so I dropped in a dollar for tip, and he dropped in another dollar; and 2) he also used to play rugby.
Oh, also, Teppy - you probably know this, but ibuprofen really does help with the discomfort of a sunburn.
