Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Art Crawl!!!

My bad news: somebody left the office fridge open over the weekend and my Thai leftovers and the milk for my coffee had to be thrown away.

Good news: we have leftovers (sandwiches, chips and cookies) from an event this weekend so I don't have to scramble to find lunch.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Bad news: I am tired of eating Atkins style.
Good news: I have lost 11 lbs.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Yay for cookies and yay for losing weight!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

wow, you've been a whirlwind of activity this morning.

I have; I hate sitting still. Pretty soon, I'll probably go clean Emeline's room, even though she should totally do it herself. Maybe instead I'll run to Michael's to get the stuff to make her chore chart and our family info center. She also starts swim lessons tonight.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Beware of Atkins. My dad's heart surgeon said, "atkins built my beach house."

Yeah, I've been on it for a month and am stopping after this coming motorcycle trip, to go to healthy foods/calorie control. It was good for getting me off my All Sugar All The Time eating style.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My dad's heart surgeon said, "atkins built my beach house."

I haven't read the original book myself, but my understanding is that patients who interpret "low-carb" to mean "bacon cheeseburger hold the bun for every meal, woot!" are operating under a very liberal interpretation of the text.

I've heard it's generally safe to lose about two pounds a week, but a pound a week is safer. My dad lost weight way too fast. But he's doing better now, and it wasn't just the diet but decades of poor eating habits.

I have read the book. I consider myself better-than-average at being able to take nutrition/diet instructions and turn them into food. Yet it was not until I had read a few other low-carb type diet books that I really *got* what Atkins had intended for his readers to actually be eating. I'm not entirely certain if people reading Atkins' Diet Revolution have so many expectations and prejudices that the actual nuts and bolts of it do not actually click, or if his ability to communicate his ideas effectively was not as strong as he might have thought.
