I walked downtown with amyth and a couple of other friends for lunch and ice cream at a couple of ailing businesses. There's been extended road construction outside the restaurant and ice cream place, and it's been cutting into their bottom line. I ate ice cream for the greater good!
I also cleaned the tub. That's probably going to be my onerous task for the day.
I've vacuumed & steam cleaned the carpets in the main part of the house, solidifying my strong dislike of the carpet and desperately hoping to get a good book deal so we can replace the flooring to something more easily maintained. And not beige.
Power's out. I swear, the power has gone out more this year than any I can remember here. So: it's hot, I'm sick, the family is cranky, and I'm all about first world problems.
Kathy - isn't a crustless quiche essentially a frittata?
That's just what the recipe called it. I've never made a frittata before, so I'm not too sure! It just involved a can of condensed milk, three eggs, some flour, spices, and then I tossed in some onions, green peppers, and ham with the cheddar cheese. So, it ended up being basically a Denver omelet cooked in ramekins for about 45 minutes.
I think a frittata is first cooked on the stove and then put in the oven, while a quiche is just baked.
Frittata's can be cooked in the oven too, but they tend not to have milk or cream in them.
Well, I'm pretty sure that a frittata doesn't have a crust.
These dishes - frittatas, quiches, tortillas - they're all kind of cousins, aren't they?
and I'm all about first world problems.
Power going out is more typically a third world problem.
Today, we took out the wooden rods which were original to the 1938-era closet and replaced them with metal ones. They were too thick for modern hangers, so once you managed to jam a hanger on them, you could not slide it back and forth at all. Pulling empty hangers off the rod sometimes demanded both hands.
After we finished, the DH and I marveled at our new freedom move stuff back and forth. It cost about $75 for the whole closet and is fabulous--don't know why it took us three years to fix it.
