There's always the Solomon approach: Offer to split the punchbowl with her.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
There's always the Solomon approach: Offer to split the punchbowl with her.
Right! Over her head.
And I really am glad to know that you've got some good friends in LA; I'm glad of it for your sake but also for mine, as a reminder that it may take a while to make new friends, especially as an adult, but it *does* still happen.
Yes, please remember this. It took me a couple of years, I won't lie, but I have such a solid group now. One thing that I did was to take an active role. I decided to be the instigator and ask people I liked to do something even if I wasn't sure what they would say. If you meet someone who you think is interesting, don't be afraid to say, "Hey, I've really enjoyed meeting you--do you want to grab coffee/lunch/dinner/a movie sometime?" I've found that the response is almost always positive.
Building off that, I started a tradition of girls nights a couple of years ago with a few of the friends I had made and told them to bring their close girlfriends, and now we have a network of 10-20 women who are all close, to varying degrees.
Nora:
No. No, you and your sister need to confront your scumbag cousin, tell her that you know that she intercepted the undertaker and took all the rings, that such behavior is appalling, therefore she will NOT be getting the punchbowl, AND she had better damn well give your sister the gold claddagh ring.
Does the rest of the family know the nonsense your horrible cousin is doing? Because if they don't, they need to know. That sort of behavior is awful and reprehensible.
WHAT JILLI SAID. Seriously, this is disgusting behavior. I'm so sorry you have to deal with it.
Coffee: And Kate, this:
(BTW, there is a chance that we might be coming out to LA sometime this fall! Mostly to visit my brother, but we would for sure want to see you & Drew too. I will let you know if/when I have more details!)would be SO AWESOME. We have a guest room if you need one.
But my mom is going to my grandmother's lawyer this week to discuss these shenanigans.
GOOD. Because that is completely unacceptable.
Okay, I think that 10:15 PM on a holiday is a good enough time to say that I'm done working for the night. I'm so glad I have as much work as I do, and that it is work that I love, but right now I'm bone tired.
Sleep well, ND. Hope you got everything you need.
What David said about erika's brother.
Vortex, gracious. Bourbon seems like the right choice, there.
Dear Nora's cousin - look, bitch, your karma ain't pretty right now. You're looking at a hell where the only water is in that punch bowl, but it is always just out of reach.
Yay for the right marriages.
Awake because dog barfed up a plastic eye from a stuffed animal. Not sure where that came from. Still groggy from Xanax, hope I can get back to sleep soon.
Bad news: still awake. Good news: jewelry is pretty much packed. Also, I had a brainwave about how I can use my tall bookshelf to help protect my framed posters and such. WOOT. Even more exciting than the idea I had to use an old cookie tin as a hat box, two nights ago.
More bad news: still awake. Better news: small picture frames now all padded and packed, running malwarebytes on ancient computer in hopes of salvaging files, and also decluttered and packed fridge magnets. Also put more kitchen stuff in donation pile.
Unfortunately, I'm also now hungry. Going to eat a wee snack and try to go to sleep. Again.
Arggghhh. The nasty uncle I mentioned, who didn't attend our wedding and then blamed us and my mother, is now sending very attacking e-mails. I have forwarded them to The Girl, as my nerves are not up to replying to it. My God - family!
I am going to do work and forget about it. Grading papers grading papers grading papers. Like a mantra.
