Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

It seems very important to them whether or not a bunch of innocent virgins are currently being handed over to Osama Bin Laden.

It seems a more important question to me to ask what those poor virgins did to deserve that.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I don't understand how they can even ask the question. If you accept that heaven exists then how can you think people are being tormented there? Or do they think there are girls out there hoping to die virginal so they can service "martyrs" in the afterlife?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Congratulations, Seska!

Silly Laga, women and girls aren't real people with real lives! They're rewards for a job well done and/or things to have sex with.

...And, on a totally different note: Many congratulations to Seska and The Girl!

I had the impression really that this was all about women not being actual human beings but rather interchangeable receptacles for penises - just fine to grab up a bunch of new ones, and cast off the old ones. The Mormons at least have a decent, loving, romantic idea that a marriage is sacred enough to transcend death, because women are possibly more than throw-away chattel. Sorry, I'm in a very ugly mood right now. I need to shed it, too, before I get to work.

Well, that may or may not be the motivation behind that tennet of belief, I don't know, but at least it seems vastly less objectifying.

OK yeah, I think this is the point my christian female facebook friends are missing. Now, do I jump into the fray? I didn't even finish reading the comments before coming here to whinge.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Congratulations to Seska and her awesome girl!

The various commentaries that are part of the Islamic tradition seem to see paradise as the land of perfect sex. Believers are given 72 wives, who may be created in paradise rather than having been Muslim women on earth. The black-eyed houris of paradise are more Stepford than human, since they're all young and round-breasted and free from bodily functions that might get in the way of sex. They are also obedient and never lie.

There are also translators who say that believers are really promised 72 white raisins, a very expensive fruit at the time.

I love this and am proposing marriage to it.
