Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I remember seeing Jaws in the theater when it came out. I was only 9 years old, but surprisingly enough, I didn't have any nightmares afterwards. (My sister, two years older, did--she dreamt that the shark was walking down our hallway. Yes, Landshark, the summer before that SNL skit!)

“Not dead yet!”

I'm also with anyone who recs Auntie Mame. Rosalind Russell is the perfect tonic for everything.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Seska, I'd second ChiKat's list. Also My Man Godfrey and Libeled Lady. I'd add Bombshell, which isn't as well known but has the greatest temper tantrum ever filmed. Plus a rather obscure one called It's Love I'm After.

The Thin Man is technically a mystery, but it's also one of the funniest movies of the '30s.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Seska, sorry you're not feeling well and there's no one to take care of you.

I slept in until noon, pretty much. Couldn't get to sleep last night b/c I had sweet tea at dinner. Ehh, I figure I deserve to enjoy my fist day off. Still going to be productive, eventually.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

AUNTIE MAME.

Sorry for the asscaps there, but Auntie Mame is one of my role models.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I enjoyed pizza (and ordered far too much food, most of which is now in the refrigerator). Didn't quite make it to movies, as radio comedies have been all I could manage, but the lists are great and I'll save them! You will all be appalled to hear that I have seen none of the recommendations, except Jaws. Must put this right.

My PhD supervisor is moving to Sheffield. It's a far superior university. Given the hell that Derby has put me through over the past year, I'm thinking of transferring with him. The excitement has rather perked me up.

A hearty second to that. There is a whole series of movies, and they are marvelous.
