Thanks to Andi, coloringpages101.com and my birthday present to myself, here is the mandala I colored last night. It has a real steampunk feel to me.
I went crazy and bought the 132 pencil set...which is a little disappointing for a couple of reasons...but now I'm just in lurve with the colors.
Yeah, you are right there is real science being done in Evolutionary Psychology. Unfortunately we have a strong genetic tendency to go for the just-so stories ...
Yeah, OK I do go for obvious punchlines.
Bonny, did I miss your birthday? I'm sorry if so, and congratulations to us on the presence of you! We're very glad you're here--in a meta on-the-earth way as well as a more intimate, on-the-board way.
In ridiculous me-news, I was taking my morning meds, had just put the pills in my mouth and was surprised by a sneeze. I *just* managed to spit the pills into my palm before a whole string of sneezes erupted. Thank goodness we were spared from a barrage of flying pills across the room!
Aw Bev, thanks! My birthday is Monday. Along with Clarence Darrow, Christian Slater and Conan O'Brien. We are all a little 'off.'
This one is a prime number, which is cool, but of no other import. Though I'm promised great weather, which is nice, compared to today!
bonny, that mandala is beautiful.
And I continue to be amazed and pleased at the good we've gotten at the group home from coloring mandalas together. We had a wonderful time together a couple evenings ago - three of the individuals who live there were sitting around the dining table, along with me, coloring, having a lovely peaceful time, sharing markers, crayons, colored pencils, no arguing, no fussing, no bother. I can't think of more than one other time in the five years I have worked with them when those three people sat down to do something together (other than eating meals). A couple of them will do stuff together, but put all three of them together, and that is a recipe for tension, at best. It was one of those "now this is why I do this work" moments.
On a side note, it's much more "age appropriate" than coloring cheap dollar store coloring books - of course that is not of prime importance to me or to the people who live there, but it sure looks good on paper.
Happy birthday, Drew! I hope it's filled with pleasurable things.

That is a joy to hear.
My coloring books just arrived!
I'm looking forward to seeing if the paper of the books is a higher quality, and therefore smoother, than the printer paper I have been using.
The thing is though, some of the designs are so gorgeous, I'm compelled to copy them out of the book so I can do more than one of a design.
The vampire book is going to be goofy fun and challenging...there is a LOT of hair...by the strand, so intricate coloring. Thank goodness I have a good sharpener.
The paisley book is great and the mandala book as PERFECT.
The geometric design book is much more bland than I expected. But will probably be my choice for jury duty next month. More mind numbing than challenging.
Still, BOOKS!
Happy Birthday, Drew!! Here's excellent smokey liquor-y wishes to you, and hopes that this year is fabulous!
