It happened some time in the nineties, but apparently that giant morning-show kerfuffle did not ding his legacy enough for the Motion Picture Academy not to make him Humanitarian of The Year a couple years back. Which is really like Glenn Beck winning an Image Award, except for that being on the property of Chez NeverGonnaHappen. sj, don't forget the crushing guilt in case you hurt someone. Of course, my disability has made me so prone to guilt, Vic Mackey could get me to confess to anything. Your Superego may Vary.
Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
(others are saying that Board members should try riding Metro, period).
Yes, I remember that controversy a few years ago. Each board member gets an unlimited metro card, the records were pulled and only one board member's card had ever been used.
It was sparked by a piece by a woman visiting DC who's in a wheelchair and tried to use Metrorail to go see the cherry blossoms. But she kept finding that at the stations the elevators weren't available - at one she had to go down four steps only to find that the elevator wasn't accessible. At another the elevator was blocked off, but no notice of whether it was broken, out of service, or anything.
Man, my uncle is turning over in his grave right now. (well, his ashes are) He used to yell and scream so loud to the Metro staff, the city, the district, the state of Virginia about Metro accessibility.
Thanks, y'all. I think I only have a mild fever - it hasn't been uncomfortable enough for me to even bother checking it. No body aches or dizziness. I'm gonna pick up some C and give it another day, see if it starts to improve on its own. If not, I promise I will go to the doctor.
Out of curiousity, is the "real" cough syrup something different from the OTC stuff, or is it just more concentrated or something?
Cockpunches to the dog prankster assholes.
Clue-by-fours to the Metro board and commenters. On a semi-related note, I'd like to deprive our COO of his Jag for just two weeks.
I made it to Friday. Hallelu. Of course I have work to do this weekend, but at least some of it is finding pretty pictures of furniture. Oh, yeah, and taxes.
While I was driving home today, I saw a little white dog wandering down the road. Clearly belonged to someone -- it was wearing a sweater and a collar -- but no leash and no people anywhere. So I pulled over (sort of -- this is allegedly a two-way street, but there is no way for cars to actually travel in both directions at the same time, so "pulled over" is more like "got two tires into the gravel and put on my blinkers,") and I tried to see if I could read the dog's tags, but the dog wouldn't really let me get close enough to see them. Every time I tried to get close, the dog would start barking like crazy. The barking got the attention of someone inside one of the houses, and she came outside, and I asked if she knew who the dog belonged to, and she said it was her neighbor's dog and she'd bring it back, and the dog ran into her house.
This was much more satisfying than my morning commute, in which the main road from home to work was closed because of an accident, and the secondary road was full of traffic because of all the extra cars from the main road, and someone was hauling a double-wide on that secondary road, which is mostly uphill, so traffic was almost entirely at a standstill. With the help of my GPS, I was able to figure out another way to get there, but that commute ended up taking over an hour when it usually takes 20 minutes.
Zenkitty- prescription cough syrup has codeine. it is almost magical in its ability to actually supress coughing for hours at a time.
codeine
Oh, of course, I forgot about codeine! (Really, I did.) I don't seem to respond well to opiates. The last time I took an opiate (for pain - hydrocodone), it made me feel really headachey and floaty and weird, and didn't really help much. If the coughing gets worse, though, I'll give it a try. Maybe I metabolize it better now than I did back then (I'm healthier overall now, so that might make a difference.)
You don't necessarily need codeine for a bad cough; if you see a doctor, ask for Tessalon Pearls. They are amazing. They have wiped out every bad cough I had (except for the one that led to pleurisy; that cough needed codeine, for some reason).
Tessalon Pearls are not codeine- or opiate-based at all, so you shouldn't have any weird opiate reaction to them.
If I end up going to the doctor, I'll mention my bad reaction to opiates and see if I can try the Tessalon. Thanks, Steph.
It is at least a productive cough. (Gross.)
