[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Kate P! I have a half-finished reply to your email in my drafts. Between my low energy these days and work and letting C.'s baby projectile vom on me in my spare time (no, it's adorable! I like it! WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME...CALL THE POLICE) I haven't finished it. But thank you for asking.

He emailed me and Middle Bro to say that he's starting radiation and chemo next week, and that's all he had to say. I emailed back, asking if he had gotten the results of the biopsy back, and no response. I know that he gets tired very easily these days, and maybe the biopsy results didn't reveal anything particularly revealing, or maybe he just doesn't want to talk about it, but I have a friend with a Ph.D. in Public Health who is all, "LET ME PARSE THE SCIENCE FOR YOU." But I have no science to give her. ::shrugs:: Inoperable brain cancer, he has it. But we aren't especially adept at communicating under the best of circumstances, and now he talking/energy issues, which are prob. only going to get worse with the treatment. But he is making an effort to keep us in the loop. My sister-in-law is totally freaking out, and doesn't want to talk, which makes it a little harder, but I'm not going to second-guess her coping methods.

I think I'm going to try and get up to NY some time in either Sept. or Nov. and see him in person. I have to go to Denver for a conference in October. Just playing it by ear at the moment.

Stephanie! I was going to post in the F2F thread as it got closer, but I guess it's fast approaching.

I'm flying in on 10/9, and leaving on 10/14. I would LOVE to get together.

That would be so cool. I now work in a sweatshop, but I'm sure we can work something out while you are here. Maybe I can finally meet Suzi, too. although I just processed the fact that Joe is leaving for Iraq sometime between the 9th and 13th, although that should be nailed down as we get closer.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Joe's going to Iraq? For how long?

Thanks for the ~ma, y'all. She so doesn't need this on top of chronic colitis and hypothyroidism and mental health issues and an internship and her last semester of undergrad and a job search. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if stress is a factor in whatever she's got.

Yes, that would be great. I would love to see Joe, too. I didn't realize he was leaving for Iraq! How long will he be over there?

And I would love to see Suzi, too. Is she nearby in CO?

I have an all-day tour on the 13th, but I get in around noon on the 9th, and the conference doesn't start until the 10th. And my flight isn't until 12:30 on the 14th, so I could do an early breakfast on that day. Also, I didn't sign up for any of the networking dinners, so my evenings are free. we'll figure it out. Yay!

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Hey, I have a "searching for a certain product" question. Anyone up for it?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Thanks for the update, amyth. I've been thinking about you guys! I want to ask more, but it sounds like that's all you know right now, which must be frustrating. Lots of strength to you & your family, and some extra ~ma for your SIL. Jeez. {{{{amyth}}}}

PS, I am totally grinning at the mental image of you letting C's baby hurl all over you. Just the thing for when you want to relax and chill out! ...Yes, the fact that I'm not being sarcastic means I have babies on the brain, like, all the time these days. Babies!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Ha! Exact response to an email I sent this morning:

Aimee - Thank you for responding and for following directions. Yes, I want to interview you. When are you available next week?

Heh.
