I meant to say something last night, Seska. Sorry to hear about Hamish.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I ♥ the State of Vermont.
Whereas, Vermont rocks, Resolved, I will move there if I ever desire to live somewhere colder than fuck but otherwise awesome.
Good-bye, little Hamish.

Seriously, the snow this winter was so bad that it broke my brother's snowblower and he bought a new one that's so large it has a headlight. He's a pretty mellow person, but the enormous amount of snow made him lose his shit more than once.
(askye, you will be renting, so snow removal is NOT going to be the huge bugaboo for you that it is for my brother -- he owns his house, so he *is* the maintenance crew. Also, it has 2 driveways, one of which slopes up at a sharp angle, and the other slopes down. That means that snow whammies him HARD. You will still need long underwear and a really good pair of boots, but snow removal will not be a huge deal for you.)
(Also, you get good cheese, good beer, apple cider donuts, Lake Champlain...oh, and Will!)

For a moment this had me very confused. I didn't get how one could be up and not down and the other down and not up.
But I'm good now.
Alas, poor Hamish.
Vermont seems like a nice place to visit, but I don't do massive amounts of snow. I might feel differently if I was in love.

Ah, good point! I guess depending on your vantage point, they do each slope both ways. From the road, one slopes up and the other slopes down; serendipitously, from the house, one slopes down and the other slopes up! How did they DO that?!?

And I walked 10 miles through the snow to school and it was uphill both ways.
RIP, Hamish.
The only thing I remember about Vermont was when we would go on road trips from NY to Vermont my dad would stock up on booze. Apparently at least at that time the taxes were much lower. I don't know if this is still the case. Lots of pretty there. We went across Lake Champlain in an ice breaking ferry one time and that was very cool, and noisy.
Seska, I'm sorry to hear about Hamish!
We're at the beach! It's freezing cold, but we managed to outrun the snow!
