New Balance are awesome. You have to get the right model for your foot type, but I'm impressed with how many options they have for people who over-pronate and under-pronate (and, of course, have normal pronation). I under-pronate severely, and my New Balances are the only shoe I have that *doesn't* show uneven wear on the outside back of the sole, because they're *that* good at supporting my foot and keeping it in a neutral position.

Thanks for all the sneaker advice. I should try to go sneaker shopping this weekend before my next PT appointment on Tuesday.
I did not like my new gynecologist today at all. I'm going to get the test I need done and then switch.

May I make another suggestion? Go to an old fashioned shoe store where the salespeople know feet, shoes, and fit. That kind of knowledge is as important as the quality of the shoes. And I have found it well worth the expense of not going to a discount shoe warehouse. (This advice is not necessarily accurate for people who love shoe shopping such that trying on a couple dozen shoes isn't a complete nightmare.)
