Liese, I don't think the negative heel would work for me, but thanks.
Cass, I'll keep that in mind while looking.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

sj, it depends on your foot shape. Nike shoes are narrow in toe box and heel; Adidas have a wider forefoot area which works better for me.
Hmm, I used to be able to wear Nike quite happily, but the last five-ish years have not been able to find any that were comfortable. Of course, I've ended up in New Balance's higher end walking shoes for work, but that is rather a case of getting what you pay for. Next time I'm in the mood for something less spendy, I'll give Adidas a try.
May I suggest custom orthotics? I have a podiatrist who takes a mold (mould?) of my feet, sends them off, and a while later I get these lovely supports that fit ME. I get ones made of compressed cork with a leather surface against the sole of my foot. And they can be made to compensate for my knees not being quite straight.
Toddson, if you don't mind me asking, how much do custom orthotics run?
The ones I get from my doctor run $150 a pair ... but he's very old school and I think he gets them cheaply. They would probably run more from other sources, but I love them. And a pair will last several years.
Man I *hate* putting on jeans that are freshly washed and dried. How does denim manage to shrink 5 sizes in the cleaning process? Every. Damn. Time. Then I wear them, and after wearing them for a little bit, they realize what size my ass is, and they decide to revert to their actual size.
When I put them on this morning, I actually said, out loud, to them, "The doctor's scale said I lost 3 pounds -- now YOU ACT LIKE IT!!!" They did not.
Yet.
Well, I got my formal position description this morning. Aside from the fact that it contains some functions that the dean and I agreed that I would not do, the title is assistant director, where I was a director before. The dean and I discussed this extensively, and he knew that I would not accept an assistant position and he agreed with me. After some time, he told me that there was an issue and he thought it would work out. Clearly, it has not, and he has not even had the decency to speak to me about it. and he's not here until next week. I am not going to speak to anyone about it today because chances are I will end up calling someone a motherfucker and storming out.
Oh, God damn, Vortex. I'm about ready to throat-punch someone just reading about that.
Yeah, I'm okay with the stuff I'm not doing in the description because he's my boss and knows what's up. The title is a MUCH bigger issue that we discussed VERY seriously, to the point where I said "I can't accept a position that would be a demotion" and he said "I know, you're right".
