If he wants to give you new appliances, bonny, let him. You'll have fewer troubles down the line, and so will he.
Appliances taken out of rental properties are often sold or recycled, going by my vast experience working for one property management company.

Especially if the repairs only delay appliance death by a year or so.
This is one of his concerns, which I get.
When we talked, I made it clear that I understand it is his decision. I'm hoping it gets made sooner, rather than later. The washer isn't really a problem, it only leaks when I use hot water, which is roughly twice a year. The dishwasher gets run once a week, for things that need sanitation. I don't like not being able to use it.
Sigh.

And the weird thing is the first thing I thought was, "Well, I guess I'm not going to get those Y: The Last Man trades he borrowed back." But I was also sad he wasn't going to be able to read the rest of the series.
He'd been fighting brain cancer for years, and it finally came back with a vengeance in December. He barely remembers anything anymore. I wonder what the last thing I said to him was. God, he's the sweetest guy. I only just met him last year or so.
