Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Because this is terribly important info... t /sarcasm

We're going to a Mardi Gras shindig tonight, and I found a black skirt to wear with my flamey corset. Also wearing devil horns, because they go with the flames.

The shindig sounds pretty cool -- sideshow freaks, belly dancers, cabaret -- but mostly it's just an excuse to wear my corset somewhere other than a kink party.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm trying to make a salad for lunch. This salad is supposed to have steamed potatoes on top. The potatoes are taking forever to steam. I just gave up and put them right into the water, and it's still taking a while.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

And eesh, I'm so sorry to hear that you've got CSF too! It's really no fun, is it? Which med(s) are you on? I just finished my fourth round of antibiotics and am really hoping against hope that I won't have to do another one.

Kate, I'm on Cipro 3x a week for ... well, a month to begin with. And a huge amount of vitamins and probiotics. So, I've got Epstein-Barr, Lyme's, AND cat-scratch fever. Do I get laundanum for any of them? No I do not, and I am just a touch bitter about it.

“Not dead yet!”

And in totally irrelevant news, I need to figure out what section of STARS I should use at the reading on Monday night. I thought I knew what I wanted, but when I was practicing, it didn't feel quite right.

Potatoes finally finished cooking. I now have modified Salade Nicoise. (I started from a vegan recipe, which was modified anyway, and then I changed a bunch of ingredients. But at any rate, I have lettuce topped with potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, cucumber, and chickpea salad, with miso-garlic-tahini-chive-yum dressing.)

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Wow, apparently 500 kids at my lil sis's school are on "in school suspension" for a facebook-organised protest against the school's tardy policy (anyone who is late has to go to the "tardy table" in the cafeteria to get a note...so a ringleader got 500 students to all be late to the same class. instead of getting tardy slips when the swamped the tardy table...they got suspended. Lil sis did not participate and is not suspended, but of course knows plenty of ppl who are. In a small town, 500 ppl is most of the school.) School officials traced the initial poster via facebook and he got 90 days out of school suspension which lost him his scholarship and college acceptance. In response to this news, dad told a story about how he got into college by launching a band revolution. He and other band members didn't like that they were having to play a certain song really slow...so he started an alternative band playing the same song fast and everyone defected (or mutinied, depending on how you look at it) to play the song fast. His leadership role got him into college.

lil sis got yet another strong message about being careful about what you document on facebook. I was pleased this morning to see her prodding a friend to delete a few comments that could come back to bite him in the ass later in life. I'm also kinda thrilled her parents are supportive of certain varieties of subversiveness, and i never thought of my prepster Dad as any kind of revolutionary...he wore ties and blazers to college classes!

Also horrified that her (public) school won't teach evolution or genetics (because it's based on evolution.) Horrified.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm too lazy to scroll back, but antibiotics shouldn't affect a flu shot, since influenza is a virus.

I have lettuce topped with potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, cucumber, and chickpea salad, with miso-garlic-tahini-chive-yum dressing.

Ooh, that sounds good. Say, you might know this - how long does miso last in the fridge? I have yet to find a brand that's sold in non-industrial sizes, and I hate throwing it away. My gut says that since it's fermented, it should basically last forever, right?

As far as I know, miso lasts forever in the fridge. I've had tubs that I kept for probably two years, and they've been fine.

Ok, cool. I don't think mine is quite that old. Yet.
