Would either your sister or her daughter consider therapy, either one-on-one or as a family?
hahahaha
My sister went to a therapist a couple times and quit in frustration, saying, "All she did was listen to me talk!" You know, I tried; my sister is a smart woman but she has a blind spot here. Her daughter, of course, is the only sane person in the world and if everyone would just stop fucking around with her, she'd be fine, so get out of her FACE already.
Is there anyone else in the house that can help mediate between them?
Nope! The youngest daughter has written her sister off entirely. Sis's boyfriend can't stand her. Their father is a complete asshole who's thankfully moved far away. And I can't mediate anymore. I'm so angry I can't be objective. I have no idea what's going to happen. I'm afraid Kim is going to screw up her life really badly.
Heh. Actually, when Daniel posted the link, at first I thought that's the story it was going to be. But the one that Andi found is also pretty damned adorable.
Also, I vote Andi be in charge of crazy relative delegation. She seems to have a gift for knowing just whom to inflict on whom to spare the rest of us. Now, how do we make this happen for real?
Huge hugs and vibes and please-let-the-bad-people-work-it-out-without-causing-someone's-death,-even-their-own~ma to Erin and Zen and Jess and Shir. And I'm still thinking good thoughts for amych.
P-C, you were in my dream a couple of nights ago! You had just gotten cast as the male lead in a wacky life-affirming indie film about an Indian guy and a white chick who decide to have a big crazy wedding and invite only chosen family, with the white guests all dressed in their glorious silken Indian best and the Indian guests WASPing it up to the height of their powers. Hec, Emmett, Matilda and I were all extras, and what I mostly remember is that Matilda had lots of fun bouncing on the beds and sofas with the other extra kids, and that the craft table had some outrageously decadent chocolate cookies on offer. Also, you were pretty chuffed to be in a movie and fake marrying a cool, funny actress.
I love students. A student comes in and asks me a question about reserving a room in the building, I tell her who to talk to. She says "can you write the down for me?" Really? You can't ask to borrow a pen? No agency, I swear.
There is heat and hot water! Yay! I am frozen solid and hoping to thaw out soon.

This movie sounds great! I'm looking forward to seeing it.
That is a great dream. I wish I had a story like that.

First you get a root. Then you can dream about having a story.
sj, I 'm glad you have heat and hot water.
I went to school in Allentown, it is a great small city. Lots of nyc plays and music stop there on the way to philly. However, that does not mean I think you should move ( and oddly , Bethlehem is not so great ). It sounds to me like you husband is a better parent than a lot of live in dad's because he makes time for his son.
My best to your sister Zen -- that sounds like an evil situation to be in on top of being sick
I walked over and asked her out. We got married a month ago.
That's adorable. And perfect.
But the one that Andi found is also pretty damned adorable.
Daniel found it, read it to me, and that's when I suggested he post it here.
Also, I vote Andi be in charge of crazy relative delegation. She seems to have a gift for knowing just whom to inflict on whom to spare the rest of us. Now, how do we make this happen for real?
I promise to only use my powers for good. But I may need a supply of broken elevators to for people to be stuck in.
TCG is headed home an hour early because it is so lousy out.
