went out and got socks a a few other important things. Doing errands on the weekend is a little scary
Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I have uploaded photos!! They're chronologically backwards, though.
A few faves:
Me and bro doing shots of CITRUS fernet! Did you know it existed? I didn't! But I introduced the bar to drinking it with gingerale.
this church clock is just GORGEOUS
You're only allowed to wish here once--Guess what I wished for?
this stained glass window was done by Alphonse Mucha who I adore.
This stuff was so delicious we had it two nights in a row! Nom nom nom. I kept calling it "turducken" because I couldn't remember the name.
And me and Budapest! (that's the parliament building, I believe, in the background)
This energy converstation did remind me to finally swap out the screen on my door for the solid window. Onerous task FTW!
I made a chore chart for us. Not so sure how much buy in I have from Matt, but since it still has me doing most of the work it should be doable. ( i still will be working/driving less than he does ) and easy to double up with out throwing everything out of whack.
the hardest part, we don't do much by schedule
Still haven't gone to the grocery store, but I can see parts of my coffee table now.
erin o, I also vote to go for it.
Looks like a great trip, meara! I'm a fiend for Mucha and have been ever since I hit double digits. However, I didn't know he'd designed a stained glass window.
Forced myself to start sewing again late last night. Took me 'til about 1pm to get started again today. Lurching slowly closer to the finish line. If I don't finish it, I can always fudge it with safety pins now because all the stuff that shows is finished. But I'd rather do it properly.
Still struggling with an instant sense of fullness & pain which lasts for hours after eating even a small snack. I sure hope I can get a doctor's appt when I'm up in Berkeley.
Spidra, I had no idea either! But it was very neat to see the sketch for the window in the Mucha Museum later that day! I was sad the giftshop at the museum wasn't as awesome as I'd hoped (I did end up buying a calendar). Sigh.
Lovely pictures, meara! You know the legend about that clock, that the person who made it was blinded after so he couldn't make another? Did you get to see it strike?
Made it to the grocery store. Put all my EOBs in order so I can do my flex reimbursement. Late going to bed because I got caught up polishing my tea kettle, and no that's not a euphemism.
ou know the legend about that clock, that the person who made it was blinded after so he couldn't make another? Did you get to see it strike?
Oooh! I don't think that part was in my guidebook! Though there was plenty of other ridiculousness (I think somewhere I snuck in a picture in a no-picture zone, of the site of one of many defenestrations. And did you know that practically everything in Budapest was built for the 1896 millenial celebration?) I did not see it strike--we were on a mission to see as much as we could in our one day there (or at least I was!) so it was on to the next thing...
So cool to see those pics, meara.
Wikipedia tells me that leftover Hopping John is called Skipping Jenney and it's even more lucky than eating Hopping John on New Year's Day to eat Skipping Jenney on January 2nd. I feel like someone is messing with Wikipedia (what else is new?) but then I can also see an exasperated cook, staring at a larder emptied out by the holidays, explaining to the family, "oh you have to eat leftovers today... for luck, yeah that's it."
Then I topped my Skipping Jenney with Pepper Jack and realized that if the (very tasty) dish had a name it would have to be Kinky Donkey Sex.
