Sure, it flushed a significant quantity of snot out of my nasal passages, but the human body is remarkably efficient at replacing that loss. Right back to where i started in less than a half hour.

A student's father just emailed me to ask for a higher grade for his son. I so don't understand this.That is all sorts of wrong. At least it was e-mail and not a phone call. Less confrontational, I suppose. When I started at the University, my boss said "Be thankful you aren't a Professor. Nothing more annoying than a Helicopter parent. Worse than a swarm of mosquitoes!!"
The father says his son "showed improvement on the final exam." No, he really didn't.If ya could give a grade for effort, swell. But your grades are for the work done.

wow! Drama at the University during holiday break. So yesterday a ZotAlert went out (campus alert in case of problems) that was basically an APB for a dude accused of domestic violence with attempted strangulation. WTF right? This evening, an update that he was found deceased. No other details. That's some crazy shit, yo!
They should make a reality show of campus cops. Too bad no university would want that type of publicity.

Teppy, if you keep having breathing problems, then I echo the cries of "urgent care!" But if it helps, your symptoms sound a lot like mine, and TG telephoned my doc on Thursday and was told it's bad 'flu that's been going around. Really bad, but 'flu. But I am not a doctor nor do I play one on etcetera, so.
Fever went back up yesterday, but seems to be down properly now. Hoping for the ability to leave bed today. And to eat food!
oooh, prescripton cough syrup w/ codeine is, like, the BEST THING EVAH. Imagine sleeping! Without coughing! And when you wake up in the middle of the night coughing, all you have to do is swallow another dose and then back to magic land.
I've been taking codeine to sleep. It helps a lot. I need some cough syrup though - hacking my lungs up. I won't get to the doctor now because it's the weekend, so no prescription stuff for me, but Tesco's sells the best glycerin cough syrup in existence, so I'll be sending TG to get some of that (if she isn't already sick of running my illness-related errands. Which she probably is).

Utterly amazed to hear that Hil and Sparky get parents calling to ask for higher grades. Never once happened when I was teaching young adults. I'll be interested to see if the university students I teach next semester have more involved parents (although I doubt it). Maybe if I were teaching at Warwick or Oxford!
