Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

This is awesome, right?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Dana, that link took me to a sign in page.

We're watching Jamie Oliver on the Cooking Channel, and he just poured custard all over a dessert. I want custard. Is it May yet?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Is that some sort of white shoes after labor day thing? No custard before May?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Egg nog is pretty much custard, unset. Cheesecakes are custards. I couldn't wait.

Egg nog next weekend, in fact. Maybe sorrell if I can find any.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

We're watching Jamie Oliver on the Cooking Channel, and he just poured custard all over a dessert. Is it May yet?

If you're waiting till May for custard-covered desserts, you're definitely not living Jamie's British cooking ways. My favourite winter desserts are apple crumble with custard and jam sponge with custard. Very winter warming. (Ooh, I should see if I can attempt to make some apple crumble for after Christmas dinner.)

Andi, I hope you've warmed up now, and that the ploughing guy gets the drive clear for you.

No-more-poison-ivy~ma, smonster. That sounds nasty.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Good week this week. I've finished uni for the year (results this week, another unit down). I enjoy my studies for the most part, and this unit was especially useful; but it makes for a lot of time pressure on top of work and looking after Ryan. Thursday was my first day off both work and study since July, so I cooked up some spinach and ricotta cannelloni (I usually do it as a lasagne to save time, but I was feeling adventurous) and some caramelised onion and brie tarts (both recipes in the Buffista cookbook). Wallybee was especially taken with the cannelloni, which is good because onion and tomato can sometimes give her some stomach trouble. We took the tarts to a pre-Christmas lunch at a friend's place on Saturday, where they were a big hit.

No study means we've been playing Race for the Galaxy (a rather brilliant card game) each evening. Wallybee's taken two close victories the last couple of nights. Beats the hell out of econometrics.

Ryan just keeps getting better and better. Latest developments: He has no less than six new teeth coming through, including his first molars. He's showing an active interest in animals (latest thrilling encounter: friend's cat at the lunch on Saturday). I'm very proud. I rather suspect he's developing an ego too (alert Emmett!), judging by some of the fusses he kicks up when nappy changes interrupt his vitally important playtime.

So, yeah. Good week.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Billytea! What a lovely update.

Y'all. I am so screwed. The itching woke me up. Now it's all around my mouth and on my lips, and my left eyelid. Debating urgent care today versus doctor tomorrow.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Urgent care, now, smonster.
