Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

There was a very good reason why I didn't see it when it came out, and now I'm realizing that it's good I haven't bothered to correct that.

Juliana! Do not listen to those haters up there! Love Actually is fabulous.

Of course, I also recently watched and mostly enjoyed "Valentine's Day" (thought it's not nearly as good, it's totally trying to be a LA for a different holiday)

OK, y'all. My hair is long (about to the knob at the top of my spine), and driving me nuts. I want something fun and funky (but not toooooo crazy, since I do have to look vaguely professional). Thoughts? Pictures? Colors? (I'm thinking to dye some streaks right before I leave for Christmas, and it'll be three weeks before I see anyone for work and dye over them)

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I could spend the whole day in bed, tucked under the down blanket, watching David Tennant on my lap(top) and listening to bootlegs of Greg Dulli.

Instead, the world wants me to study for an exam tomorrow.

Now, I'm all in good spirit about it. Pretty good mood, actually. And I gave up on trying to understand why, but for the love of God, if anyone I don't really like will try and talk to me today, there might be a killing. A bloody one. Even though it'll be hard to remove the stains from the shirt I'm wearing.

Some days are like this, y'know.

Hi shir! I'm lying in bed trying to figure out why I am wide awake, even though all day I was woozy and sleepy. So I vote you get to snuggle under covers as needed.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Hi meara! And nah, I already dragged myself all the way to the university.

But I do plan to scold anyone who won't be fun today.

I hope you'll get your sleep.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Shir, I hope your day is better. Fie on those who give exams during holidays! Glad to hear the fires are out! How did your family and friends make out?

I'm watching Better Off Ted on Netflix On Demand and it is hilarious.
That show was hilarious! I thought there were two seasons. Short seasons, but still, two!

I've always loved the David Bowie-Bing Crosby version of Little Drummer Boy.
Ditto. The video is cute too.

Tonight we had our little Secret Santa at work. It was cute. A nice gathering. The students classes are all done. It's final exams time. A few more days of meetings, and then sleeeeeeeeep.

Speaking of. Just woke up in easy chair. Should head to bed proper for the last few hours before alarms start signaling morning.

Pretty good. A friend of a friend, though, died in that bus that went on fire. I heard the funeral was rough.

Nooo! And leave Fluffy?

And, uff. I sent a message to the lovely ladies of Finally Feminism 101 blog, as JZ cleverly suggested a while ago, asking if we can translate and localize some of the articles (with credits, of course). It was over two weeks ago, and still, no reply.

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

I also really enjoy Love Actually. I actually have a date set up with two friends to sit around and watch it and drink a bottle or three of wine. I'm excited.

Other Christmas movies that I absolutely are are The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Snowman, and Christmas Eve on Sesame Street - which no one I've ever met has seen, but I figure I'll run into someone someday. I've watched it every year since birth, basically, and as soon as they start singing I get teary. It's a bit of a problem.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I can only listen to non-sentimental Christmas music this year, due to ADs out of whack and, you know, people having died and so forth. (I know I mention it a lot, but I really am having a hard time dealing. It's...not what I expected. Sorry for the whole "death likes carrots" thing.)

This leaves things like "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" (which Bif Naked does a great version of).

But NOT "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." Not because the content makes me cry; just because it's utterly execrable.

(Dogs barking "Jingle Bells," now that's a classic.)

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

"I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" is a classic, and gets far less recognition than it deserves.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

What about "Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey"? (As sung here by the PS 22 chorus, absolutely adorably: [link] )
