I am at home for the day, we had several inches of snow, and I had to dig out the end of the driveway so Andi could get to work. They plowed it less than an hour before she had to leave.
I still have to touch up the driveway, but spent some time stopping at Aldi's for some stuffing. All they had was cornbread stuffing, but that's OK.
I decided to sage up the cornbread stuffing. I had a partial container of dried onion, soaked that in water and then guesstimated the amount of sage to put into the cornbread stuffing.
Finally Thanksgiving tonight at six.
I also picked up a couple of acorn squash for 50 cents each. Thank you Aldi!
Oh, and they have some Austrian chocolate with with whole hazelnuts. Yum.
That stuffing sounds good, DCJ. I don't think I have ever had cornbread stuffing.
We did errands today once our landlord and the handyman left. We printed up some of the wedding pictures at CVS so we can show them to TCG's mom tomorrow. Some of them look so much better printed out than they do on the computer screen.
I made cornbread stuffing this year and it was a big hit. I didn't eat any because it had sausage in it. Baked a big pan of cornbread several days ahead and let it get stale. Added some white bread, bunches of celery and onion, hot sausage and spices. Chicken stock and eggs for moisture. Yum, I'm told.
Phew. Just got back. I rode approximately 16 mi round trip today which, given my wonky knees & 80 lbs of flab, is an accomplishment. Lots of grrrr for dog walkers who haven't trained their dogs not to lunge after cyclists. If you pulling on the leash is the only thing keeping your dog from tearing my throat out, your dog has no business being in public. If you don't have $ for obedience school, you don't have $ for a veterinary emergency, either, and aren't ready to take care of a pet./rant
Trying to get used to how much less aware of cyclists people are here compared to the Bay Area. I learned to ride down here so I'm used to urban traffic, but either I got soft up there or people down here got a little more homicidal...
I'm glad I went to the meeting. Last night I didn't think I would be able to wake up early enough. So I was prepared to blow it off. But I made it and got to hear an informative talk on persimmon growing. And meet some friendly CRFG people. And see some nice stuff while passing through San Marino on the way. And get exercise and sunlight. So it's all good.
I made an announcement at the mtg that I was looking for gardeners in South Pasadena who might be interested in a community garden. One of the CRFG members there turned out to be a worker at my local Vons so he said he'd keep an ear out.
ETA: I also got to see 3 peacocks and 3 brothers wearing matching zoot suits.
Thanks, guys! Looks like #1 is a clear winner and I like the thinking behind #2, Ginger, that it also has a clear, dominant image. I do know that Maria liked the fountain pic, but I'm just not sure how it'll translate to a printed image.
meara, I'll keep what you said about the colors in mind. Thanks!
Dude, this snow is freaking me out. I've lived in NC for nearly 22 years, I don't ever remember getting snow this early, much less having it stick. Normally I'd be like YAY SNOW but instead I'm WTF CLIMATE CHANGE.
If it helps any, it's 48 here! We usually have the same weather as you 2 hours earlier but I guess there is a front between us today.
It is odd, smonster. Makes me wonder what the rest of the winter's going to be like.
Calli, I mean, remember June? Hotter than hell. And now snow already.
