Huge sandpile across the street explained: [link] I'm happy to see something so community oriented going in there. And that we still have the open fields used as a dog park and youth lacrosse fields open in the NW corner.

Serial posting.... so a work friend is in several bands, one an 80s cover band [link] (not sure if this works.) Anyway, what you can't really tell from the video is that she barely comes up to my shoulder. She's a teeny thing. It never fails to amaze me, the sound that comes out of that tiny lady. She's got a great speaking voice, but the things she does with it singing, from raspy scream to pure melody to out-and-out belting? Is amazing.

Who was it that linked to the Best Tomato Sauce Ever? [link]

Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Our house guest made it for dinner, and YES, it is the Best Tomato Sauce Ever.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

funny: Woot CEO's note on Amazon acquisition may be best "We Got Bought!" email ever

(boingboing headline, but link goes to actual letter.)

I know I say this every time I find a picture of an adorable kitten, but please set aside 20 minutes to carefully read this entire email. Today is a big day in Woot history. This morning, I woke up to find Jeff Bezos the Mighty had seized our magic sword. Using the Arthurian model as a corporate structure was something our CFO had warned against from the very beginning, but now that’s water under the bridge. What is important is that our company is on the verge of becoming a part of the Amazon.com dynasty. And our plans for Grail.Woot are on indefinite hold.

The rest of the email is like this....

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I make that sauce all the time. So good. I think it was bon bon who linked to it? Whoever it was, I second Jilli's many thanks!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

one an 80s cover band

I like that demo vid. They're good. I'm impressed at the guy who can sing a-ha's Take On Me without cracking his larynx.

Yeah, he's good. I keep meaning to go out and actually see them, but the times thus far have been inconvenient. What blows me away is she did a gig a few weeks back...a week or so after giving birth to her second daughter.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I linked to it, but I'm sure Marcella Hazan deserves the credit. But yeah, that sauce is ridiculous.

Seriously? It doesn't need garlic? But...garlic! With the nom!

I'ma mark the post and give it a shot next time we make pasta.

It doesn't need garlic! It was aaaaamaaaaazing. (We had it over pasta and roasted eggplant and zucchini. Nom.)

In completely different news, someone from discountstripper.com just sent email to GCS, asking if I'd be interested in a reciprocal link exchange. I think that is my cue to go make a drink.
