Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

ry explaining that about HTML 12 years ago

Years ago I once sat in an HTNL class and listened as a woman talked about how she was going to set up a website for her daughter's jewelry business and use fancy fonts and have everything appearing JUST SO. I didn't have the heart to say anything, but the instructor tried ... and tried.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The example in the article Tom linked to seemed to know. I'm not sure if the company has more information than they put on your statement.

Oh, I see that now. I missed that part before, thanks.

Our wings are not tired.

You guys know my pain, then.

On Tuesday, I had to give a presentation to our senior management (had already given 2.5 hours one to CFO and CEO) about the EDMS project I am spearheading. The board already approved the budget, but I still need the PO signed. And this was a project that had already flailed for almost 3 years, and lots of money was completely wasted on "consultants" who didn't know a UR doc from their arses. Anyway, two different people (SVP and a Director) in QA had tried and not succeeded in convincing anyone that an EDMS was needed. This was the fault of that (now departed) SVP and then the charisma-less QA director; everytime they were asked why we needed to spend hundreds of thousands on an EDMS, they'd respond with "we need it to be compliant."

Anyway, being dir. of reg ops, I was tied to the flailing project because QA and RA were sharing the budget for it. And I LOATHE being tied to flailing projects. Finally this year, in Feb, I told my boss that I either wanted to take it over completely OR be cut off of the project entirely.

So, I took it over, built a project team, evaluated vendors, whittled it down to one, got the SLA and SOW ironed out, gave the presentation to my skeptical CFO and turned him into a believer, and then gave the entire presentation again to senior management. It's been a LOT of work, with no glory.

So, you can all sympathize when I tell you that my presentation to senior management about the company-wide benefits of an EDMS was nearly completely derailed when the VP of non-clinical spoke at length about his hatred and distrust of...the latest MS Word product.

Compassionately intolerant

A few months ago, my friend's card was stolen at a local restaurant. Within 20 minutes, the thieves made it to the downtown Macy's and had been turned down for two different purchases. Their first charge, however, went through. As per the post linked, that was at a gas station.

Huh.

That was really informative.

Very interesting link about the credit card fraud! Hmm. I never get flagged on travel cause...hi, I'm charging all over the place. Though I haven't gone international in a while. And I don't think I told my card company when I did go out of country...though I guess I paid the taxes on the ticket with that card, so they must've known.

java, that's because non-clinical people are useless. :)

Debt up $1.7T during Isner-Mahut Wimbledon match

I saw this show up on my Google page and couldn't help but wonder what this, I assumed Republican, guy did to come up with that figure. Turns out he got misreported by USA Today. His math was fine, USA today's headline was incorrect. Way to go USA Today. The lawmaker said billion, not trillon, and is correct.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Scola, my daughter just asked for chopsticks so she could eat her Sun Chips without getting orange fingers.
