A very cool bathroom: Royal Flush by Chris Briffa Architects
Maltese studio Chris Briffa Architects have renovated a public toilet in Valletta, Malta, inspired by the facility’s location in what was once a red-light district.
The design features a stage, heavy drapes, large mirrors and a red neon installation by artist Nobert Attard.
The renovation is part of a city-wide initiative to make use of public facilities to exhibit contemporary art.
...
While having a common function, each of the five conveniences was designed according to its location within the city.
The first one to be opened is in central Strait Street – the red light district of early 1900s Valletta – and the design theme that modestly frames the venue is that of a decadent cabaret; a small stage, red lights and narcissistic mirrors.
Erin, I too had a child join me in bed, mine was not until 5AM though, due to his wet bed. Poor noodle is so stressed out. This is the last full week of school, almost there.
Wow, that is late damn late for school to be in session still, msbelle!
You gonna be driving through KC on your way to TX?
Tep, ugh. I totes sympathize -- D has high ADHD, too, and it makes me nuts, sometimes. He finds lists soothing. Can you put maybe one packing thing on a list to do each night, starting this week, to get a jump start? Like, take out suitcases and air out tonight? Find toiletry bag and start packing travel size toiletries tomorrow?
Sometimes breaking things into component steps can help...and all those little things that don't seem worthwhile can really add up when it's go-time.
OH MY GOD I HATE THIS WEEK EVEN MORE.
There a kink party that was Saturday night, and The Boy has to help with clean-up/teardown, since we loaned one of our frames for the party.
I just got an e-mail that teardown has to be Tuesday or Wednesday.
Tuesday we have the Moody Blues concert, so that is 100% impossible.
Wednesday is my motherfucking birthday, so I guess that's how I'm spending my goddamned birthday. I HATE THIS WEEK SO MUCH.
Erin, we are not driving, we are flying.
NYC schools always go until the end of June. I hate it. Mac is getting shafted on a couple of weeks of summer this year because TX starts in Aug whereas NYC didn't start until after Labor Day, but then next year he will be done in May.
Flying is better than driving, msbelle. That would be meltdown city.
Mac may get shafted a bit, but I think it will probably help with the Big Damn Transition to have a routine start earlier.
That would be meltdown city.
true fact. and with 2 cats. We really decided against it because 1) we have no car here. 2) if mac melted down and ran (like he does), we would be in unknown places.
Not a lot of places to run on an airplane. Unless one is Harrison Ford or Sydney Bristow.
Ooh, maybe I'll watch some old Alias today after I work on my class stuff for tonight...
Ooh, but me! I`ll be driving through KC on my way to Indy! I think. Unless we go Tulsa way. And we`ll probably be in Dallas sometime late in the summer.
Teppy, I hope your week gets better. Monday can back the fuck off any time now.
I'm gronkified because I was up until 2 working on stuff and doing laundry. DH was surprised I was angry with him last night because he did nothing to help me yesterday. Granted, I know it was Father's Day but I basically did ALL the work associated with the previous week's head lice problem--including stipping all the beds TWICE this weekend and doing all the laundry in the house (and that's not hyperbole). Not to mention doing several combing sessions on the kids' hair to make sure they are nit-free so they could go to day camp this week.
I ended the weekend exhausted and cranky and it's just now abating.
