I do lock my apartment when I am in it!
I just flipped my mattress and cleaned under the bed, and let me tell you, I think it is a two person job. I am ready for bed now! I did find my missing pair of glasses, which was awesome.
Flipping a mattress is something I wouldn't even attempt to do alone!
I did indeed buy my combination deadbolts (Schlage) at Home Depot...AND I installed them myself. First big homeowner project, replacing all the cheap door handles we put in when we built. It was super easy and only took a screwdriver. It could have been a bit harder but everything fit nicely.
I want to watch'n'post new Leverage! I won't be looking away from the screen until the commercials, of course.
Ooh, I`ve flipped our king mattress solo, with lots of cursing. But fair warning, do not attempt with cups of liquid anywhere in the room.
Ouch. $141 (including tax) for the locksmith to basically Jimmy the door with whoopie cushions and a screwdriver. Seriously, they don't have fancier tools??
The hard part was actually that I moved the box spring, too, because my bedframe was backwards and I had to flip it, too. Also it is not so hard getting the mattress on top of the box spring again, but lining them up was a pain in my butt
Combo locks is not something I had thought of, but maybe if money isn't too tight, I should.
1 piece of furniture is gone. Whoot!
After I bemoaned my lack of packing to you all last night, I packed up two boxes of stuff from the big piece of furniture that I am selling. SO YAY! I think I will take the opportunity of mac being out to pack up another (the piece of furniture is his armoire).
They`ve been great for us. I didn`t like how many keys we had floating around, some with people who were basically strangers. This is much more secure to me, plus no cost for rekeying, and I don`t have to carry a house key at all. Of course someone could still tell someone else their code just as they could copy or hand over a physical key, but it`s the work of a moment to fix the code.
The only downside for us is that the regular door lock and the deadbolt are separate objects, so I either would have to key a code twice or not have a regular lock. I understand the basic lock is sort of symbolic only so we opted for deadbolt only, which has worked fine for us.
