Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Sorry, think Vancouver's were odd too. I'm not a fan of made up mascots.

I know they weren't real creatures, but they looked cuddly. The London ones look...not cuddly.

After seeing the London mascots, I think I realize why Britain lost the empire.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Odd and made-up is one thing. FACELESS GIANT EYEBALL THING is quite another.

With respect to Rand Paul, there are libertarians and there are libertarians. He's one of them that takes the ideology over to the absurd. Hey why should the government interfere with how Domino's delivers pizzas? Their drivers should drive as fast as they can to deliver a better service. To me that's no more absurd than saying Dominos can choose to not deliver pizza to black people.

Note: In no way am I suggesting that Dominos wants to do either of these things. I would like them to want to make better pizzas, though.

I think the London Olympics mascots are kind of cute

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Synthetic life has been created. Supposedly a big deal.

Craig Venter creates synthetic life form

Freeman Dyson, commenting on the paper on EDGE, wrote:

I feel sure of only one conclusion. The ability to design and create new forms of life marks a turning-point in the history of our species and our planet.

Yes, that's Dyson of the sphere fame.

I don't think they're ugly. I just think . . . really London? With all that history, you represent your city with a couple of plush cyclopes.

Maybe it's my issue, but they seem very penile to me.

Synthetic life has been created.

Whoa! I don't even know how to react to that.
