Zoe: Uh huh. River, honey? He's putting the hair away now. River: It'll still be there... waiting.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes. It's so hard -- a friend of mine recently split with her abusive husband -- I know she was clear that if he hit her, she was gone, but she took the emotional abuse way too long, because it "wasn't that bad, really." O RLY??? Fuckers.

In stupid news, I'm pretty sure I had a dream about waking up and falling back asleep, and then when I actually woke up, I really wanted to go back to sleep! But I made myself wake up anyway.

I never wear t-shirts that say anything, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get the Questionable Content apron mentioned at the bottom of the page here: [link]

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Morning everyone!

So before I went to bed last night I uploaded some pics of Franny's rock band debut. They're here.

No video yet as a class mate's parents took care of that one. But truth be told, the pics are the more flattering version. The band looked the part, but they did sound, well, like 6 year olds. But everyone had so much fun!

I have to hand it to the event organizers. The band members all had VIP passes and there were a bunch of other little details.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Rock star Franny!

So, Darby and I are a week in and seem to be settling in together. She's a tough nut to figure out sometimes and I think she's still withholding judgment on the whole deal. But! She came and laid down in my room yesterday while I took a nap. This is a big step for her, since it's the first time I've seen her relax enough to sit or lie down outside of the study which she's claimed as her spot. I don't have her all figured out yet (and v.v.) but we're getting there.

The tally thus far:

Things she likes/wants:

Walks
Her room
Her bed
My friend Carla

Things she (so far) does not like/want:

Dog treats of any kind
Cheese
Kong toys
Stuffed animals
Hanging on the deck
To eat the cat (sorry Dad)
Playing or cuddling

None of this is a surprise - she's been in shelters for a long time and seems to have been treated harshly, if not abused, in the past. She spent about six weeks in a foster home and they were very up front that it took her a few weeks to get comfortable and come out of her shell. She's still sweet as all hell.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Wait-- isn't Franny a little baby!?!?!

Brenda- Your Dad wants Darby to eat the cat?

Well, he was constantly telling the old dog to do so, so I'm extrapolating. (It's a joke, obviously.)

Rock star Franny!

At church, lovely day out. I hope it does not rain as predicted. On today's agenda while mac is with uncle g: NY tees for mac, trip to the strand, home to pack a few boxes, hopefully at least one person to come pick up some items.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, this goofball I went to grad school with (and had a crush on) is running for office Back Home. We've really only been in Facebook contact for years, so my main reaction to this campaign is: At least it made him cut his hair!! Because I am ridiculous. And also his hair was terrible.
