Hee.
The questions is never why an Impala, javachik. The answer is supernatural.
YELLOW CRAYON CAR
today is not working well.
Can we return it, and get a better one?
Today kind of sucked, it's true.
It's not like I have the money for one, but even if I did a vintage *four-door* Impala is damn hard to find.
More specifically, this is the tendency to react to horrible misfortune, like homelessness or drug addiction, by believing the people stuck in horrible situations must have done something to deserve it.
This. And this is why the positivity stuff makes me so uneasy. Yes, if you're tackling many challenges it will likely be more productive to strategize and plan than to mope and despair. But not everything is actually in your control. And shitty situations might just make you feel shitty.
We slip very easily in this society into implicit shaming when it seems that people aren't shrugging off their breast cancer or brain tumors or crippling chronic illness in quite the way we approve.
PERKINS. I CAN'T MAKE YOUR ICON.

I would also support a do-over of today.

This. I'm always looking at worst-case scenario, so I'm prepared, I guess, but while I usually try to focus on what I can do to change something, nothing is going to convince me a good attitude is the secret to every unfortunate thing in my life turning around.
Stuff like The Secret scares me and skeeves me at the same time.
