My catsitters always start out their little notes of what got done on each visit with the words "Amarna is such a nice cat--and so very talkative!!" Yes, I have a cat with the reputation of being ultra-meowy to everyone who comes to the door.
We definitely had the flax. It's the only reason I knew what that was as an eight year old. What's the bell for?
The bell was the best part--it's how you opened and closed each session. We just loved to bang on it before we started trading cards.

Pico used to take something called Acevet when we travelled. (A tranq. for cats.) It didn't make him hyper, but it didn't calm him either. He still meowed the whole trip, but with an added layer of "I am stoned AND annoyed."

As we were leaving today, Grace's school bus showed up to take her to preschool. Um. yeah. We didn't know she was starting today as we hadn't heard from anyone.
I'm kinda verklempt at the thought of my little girl taking the school bus to school.
